  1. I currently am pregnant with my second child, and having a lot of anxiety in regards to my delivery (last delivery was 30 hours of labor, followed by a C-section) In other words I was out for 6 months. At that time things fell into place that we were able to afford me being off for 6 months. This time around however not the case I only have about 6 weeks paid time off, and also I commute 45 minutes to work. Not really wanting to do that anymore, with 2 little ones at home. There is the possiblity of working at another hospital that is closer to home, (but if I have complications again I may not be able to go back to work in a hospital setting) I have heard about at home RN jobs. Are they hard to find? Or is it just by who you know? I live in a rural area, therefore I figure it may be harder, but with the way of technology I don't see why I couldn't? Also I would think that as an RN, I could also qualify as being able to work as a medical transcriptionist? Again any thoughts would be great appreciated! Or even any websites to check out that are legit, and don't expect you to pay.
  2. when I interviewed for an OR position they did a session of staff interviewing as well, I remember a couple of questions they asked me: Do you consider yourself passive or aggressive? What do you think is your "weak" spot? Hope these kind of help.
  3. So I would LOVE to be in the OR, when we did our rotation in the OR, it felt like my thing, I truly enjoyed the C-sections, however way too routine for me, and I was just watching, probably more exciting if helping the surgeon. But what kind of credentials do you need to have before getting into the OR? I currently am working on a Neuro floor, and I don't mind it at all, however I have always wanted to be in the OR, I even would love working for a plastic surgeon. Everyone I've talked to has said, go to ICU, or MICU??? how did all of your wonderful nurses start out to get into the OR?
  4. The first time I took the test I failed at 265....my third attempt, I had all 265 again....and Passed!! So yeah, you just don't know......
  5. The ATI (Assessment Technologies Institute) is a program to help study, I was fortunate that when I asked my nursing instructor for help, she was able to enroll me in the program with the other students in her nursing class. Otherwise I think it is about $400, but it's worth it. There practice test that are just like the NCLEX, one question at a time. You have 2 practice tests for each area, ie; Med-Surg, Community Health, Fundamentals, Leadeship, OB, Mental Health, Peds, Pharmacology, and a comprehensive at the end. It is nice because at the end of each test it shows you exactly what area you need help in. Which you can go back and study that area. Check it out at www.atitesting.com I believe they have a demo you can try. Best of Luck!
  6. Glamorous10aya~ I know exactly how you are feeling.......I too was the last to take the RN NCLEX in my class and was one of two who failed the first time.....and I also failed the second time......I too cried for an hour straight my eyes were soo puffy, I will admit....I was depressed for a couple of weeks....Then I realized that I needed to get myself together...I too was an LPN first, and I took that exam with the min questions and passed first time.....I thought I would do just fine the first time.... Here is what I did....I went to my instructor from nursing school and asked for help...if anything I needed someone to help me figure out what I was doing wrong....and my thought process was not looking at the facts in front of me. Second I made a plan with my instructor to see her once a week and do a Comprehensive test Then...I went to a hypnotist to help with the negative talk I was doing to myself. I just felt like crap, and felt dumb.... Then I used the ATI, and I borrowed everyone elses books so I could do comprehensives from different books. 3rd time is a charm.....And don't worry abou the standards raising....focus on studying! You will get through this..I did....and so will you. Good Luck!!
  7. Congrats!!! I agree........the night after I found out was the best night of sleep I have had in a long time!!! Again Congrats!!!
  8. I PASSED!!!! Thank you all for your kinds words, and encouragement!!!!
  9. Thank You all.....I have not lost hope, I just wish the wait was over.....I will keep you all posted. Thank goodness I have to work today, to keep my mind off of it till the end of the day.
  10. However I endured the 3 1/2 hour, and all 265 questions. I went in confident, even took my break, stretched and went back at it. I felt good about my answers but right now I am a wreck. Nothing has been posted as of now, I waited for my husband to get off work to look for me......I don't know what I'll do if I see Failed one more time! It is going to be one long day tomorrow.
  11. I do feel like it is a mix of good and bad anxiety, good in the sense that I want to do this, and I don't know how much more I could prepare for it...... Thank you for all of your kinds words, and like I said I envision myself walking into work on Thursday saying "I'm an RN" and suprising everyone. I think you are on to something homeyko, maybe I should just sit back and relax, what more can I possibly retain? I will pray for you also Homeyko, I hope to hear good news from you as well! Good luck to you also Twotfruity98! And thank you Precious99, if I did back out, I would never know right? And when I do pass I would regret not going! Thanks again!
  12. I have not checked it out yet, but there is a website www.freenursetutor.com It might be helpful!
  13. So I have until tomorrow morning to call and cancel. I so do not want to cancel........I have been doing so good, working on comprehensive tests and all last week I was getting in the 70's I borrowed books from everyone I know to have a variety. My highest score was 77, and nothing below a 60. So, I WAS excited to retake the test for the 3rd time this wednesday the 21st.....And NOW I'm having like an anxiety attack, since studying today I am not doing as well as I was last week. I have been studying for 3 months now! I know I can do this, however my anxiety and anticipation to take the test is now getting the better of me. I guess I just know that I don't want to feel the way I did when I saw those words on the screen, twice. I don't think I could handle it a 3rd time. Kudos to those who have conquered and succeeded. I know I can, but again I dread those words. I envision myself walking into work and saying, I'm an RN!! (I didn't tell anyone I was going to take the exam) However again my anxiety is getting the best of me!
  14. Hamburg....the anticipation! Good Luck!
