Hi,

Im am currently stuck in a rut with my dream job and i am looking for advice on what to do.

I recently for my dream job which is a major company in my area. The day of my interview i was told that i was hired and additional information was emailed to me regarding reference checks, background etc. I submitted the required documents asap this was on a Friday. I waited until Thursday of the following week to contact hr to see if she received the information and if there was anything else that needed to be submitted via email. A few hours went by i got no response so i called her and left a voicemail.

She called back promptly and stated that she could no longer continue with the hiring process because i lied about employment within their company on the application. Going further into the conversation i stated i never worked for this company before. She stated that i was employed with their home care agency for 3 weeks and was fired due to poor performance.

In fact i was hired for the home care agency got to orientation and was told that the position was given to some in house and that they couldn't continue with employment. This happened probably over 3 years ago i cant even remember when it was to be exact. I also added that i never worked a home care case this them at all. She stated they mentioned i received 2 paychecks when in fact i only received 1 check which was compensation for orientation.

I honestly forgot about the home care agency because i never considered it as actual employment because i never actually worked for them what should do ?

Im so stressed i feel like every time i find a good job i get hit with a road block and i don't know what to do.

Hr told me to contact cooperate to see if i can get things worked out. I just dont see how they can list me as being terminated for poor performance when in fact i never got the opportunity to perform at all.

P.s. this company sends me post cards in the mail and text messages all the time about coming in to apply

This sounds like something that should be relatively easily fixed through the HR department (or as easy as anything ever is with HR). Certainly they will have a better record of compensation and if you were only paid for an orientation that will be reflected in the paycheck. And even if you had two paychecks, that would certainly not be long enough for poor performance, you would have been on orientation.

Just try to explain and I hope it can be worked out for you. Good luck!

Thank you for the feedback.

That sucks, chances are they still won't hire you as unfair as it is if you didnt leave on good standards, good standards basically means that they won't blackball you. I went to HR to make sure I would not be and spoke to the director. I did this because my managers boss said if I resigned from this particular job I would not be allowed to work for this huge company. I didn't have bad performance, it was just that the job was not a good fit for me. Crazy what u have to do these days. Try anyhoo...good luck, I could be wrong.

I would set up an appointment with HR to see if you can clear this up ASAP.

I had a friend that had a death in the family (immediate) during her two-week notice, it was just horrible timing. She had four days bereavement and the assistant manager of her department told her to just take the days (she only asked for two, but was TOLD she could take four and was willing to extend her notice to make up the days), the assistant manager told her, "Don't worry about it...these things happen, go take care of your family."

This was when she was in nursing school.

Just over a year later when she applied for an RN job, she was told she was on the "do not rehire" list. The manager, unknown to the assistant manager, was made b/c the assistant allowed her to take the time and instead of discussing it with my friend, terminated her and requested that HR placed her on the "do not rehire" list b/c she didn't finish her notice.

My friend was floored, but when she was given the opportunity to explain to the nurse recruiter what happened, they contacted the assistant manager (who was now in another department) who verified the story and her status was changed and she was hired.

Things like this happen..and I agree, you did nothing wrong, but you need to try to fix it.

Waiting to hear back from hr. I left because i was told my position was already taken due to an internal employee wanting it. But it seems like i was lied to.

Its a shame to even have to go through this. I couldn't imagine wanting to blacklist someone.

Agreed. But there are people everywhere that go through their career with the only goal of making the lives of others miserable.
