I have an interview at the MED

Published

soon and I was just wondering if anyone could give me any helpful information on the hospital, bennies, pay, whatever. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Specializes in none, still looking.

well, the med visited my nursing school, and the pay is typical tn pay around 18-20 dollars, insurance, I believe they have a new grad program. The med is a very urban hospital that gets all the cases from gunshot to MVAs. I have heard people say the staff sucks, but that may be hear say. In my opinion nursing is not a profession, but unprofessional job, so I would not want the high acuity pts., to add to the stress, but to each it's on.

What dept. are you applying for?

Thank you for that info. I am applying for the mom/baby unit.

Well that's a lovely attitude to possess! :trout:

Lovely attitude also. The med is wonderful. I had a bad ingrown and I went to every Methodist in the city. My toe started turning black. I did not want to go to the Med. I waited 11 hours in the waiting room, but I walked out with my toe. I know it is too much info. but they are the best.

Specializes in ICU, Med-Surg, Post-op, Same-Day Surgery.

Could you please elaborate on this statement? I am a little confused at to whether you are praising the hospital or not?

Also, is the MED the busiest trauma center/ER in Memphis/the mid-south?? I've heard this, but mostly from people who have had care there, and not healthcare professionals. Thanks.

The Med is the ONLY level one trauma center in the area. It serves a 150 mile radius. At last "count" it was the 2nd busiest trauma center in the nation. The Trauma and ER are two different departments with two different sets of staff.

Nearest Level I Trauma Center is Vanderbilt in Nashville.
