I graduated in May from nursing school. I took loans out to go through because everyone kept telling me it'll pay itself out once i graduate. SO I have my BSN, my state license, and surprise! no job. neither does about 30 of my classmates, i'm looking in ohter states (i'm in NJ) i'm looking everywhere, even in PR (where my family lives) and there is nothing. So now i have loan payments that start in december, and no job. ANd i've applied to non-nursing jobs to. there is nothing. Can anyone help?
I have found that places are no longer replacing every nurse who leaves and are making the ones that stay work harder and smarter. As managers do majority of healthcare hiring even if recruiter thinks you are good, does not matter if manger does not like something..and I am talking something you could not change like your name, size, past employer they might have had contact with. There are jobs but I find many more applicants if in smaller town.
I recommend teaching hospitals as many have actual training set up for new grads.
You should check out the Veteran Medical Centers. There are many through USA. go to USAJOBS - The Federal Government's Official Jobs Site
For government jobs you don't have to change your licensure.
Good luck.
Are you kidding? There are literally hundreds of jobs listed here in South Texas on careerbuilder.com. There are probably 2 or 3 every week that I could apply to. No, it's not California working conditions (yes, I wish it were), but especially if you have family in Puerto Rico and you speak Spanish, this is the place to be. New grads, whatever. They are hiring them at my hospital; again, especially if you speak Spanish you are gold down here.
Okay, I'm sorry, but this business about not wanting to be Hispanic in Texas is ridiculous. The city I live in is 65% Hispanic. In 2020, Hispanics are supposed to be the majority in Texas. If you don't want to live here because your Hispanic, fine, but don't blame it on
us. Texas will be the first Hispanic majority state; sure there are crackers down here, but you can't tell me there aren't crackers in New Jersey. There are lots of jobs down here for Spanish speakers; if you don't really want a job, that's fine; stay in New Jersey.
I am sorry to hear about your situation...have you been applying everywhere, even nursing homes?? It isn't ideal but it's worth a shot to do rehab. I would look into New York, and Boston too...I know that Mass General is building a whole new building right now, I am sure they will need staff to fill it; Boston is very competative, but it's worth a shot. Put applications in EVERYWHERE that is what I had to do. Try CT too...I hope that helps...and I hope you find something.

Try Kessler in northern Jersey. They are looking for RNs and BSNs.
