I have (I think) a great idea for an invention that would be incredibly useful for nursing staff AND patients, that I don’t think exists, and would be much better than what is currently used. But I’m not an inventor - I’m still in nursing school! Anyone have any experience with the process of possibly making an idea a reality? I know it’s a long road that often doesn’t amount to much, involving patents, prototypes, etc., but I have no idea where to start and if it’s even possible. But new products are made all the time, right? How in the heck do you make it happen if you aren’t already incredibly wealthy and connected???

Hmm, you might want to follow nurse innovators, most of them I saw from linkedin. You can send them a message, asking on how to start making your idea to reality. Not sure though if they will reply but I don't see any harm for trying.

I would explore local startup hubs that are geared toward medical innovations. They usually offer resources and useful information on how to get started with your invention.
