I had my ADN in 2014, then I went back to school two months later for BSN, now I just graduated from BSN, and the student loan I owe is little over 60 grand..Oh load. I had to pay over 600 a month for 10 payment. That seems a lot to me. Any suggestions? any programs that can reduce or forgive my loan? Thank you very much!
I would seek some help from a qualified financial advisor. It would seem high for a BSN unless the RN had to go through 4-5 years of school even though they already had the ADN. In my state if you are an ADN you can pretty well get the BSN with some community college and then BSN program which is usually shorter for people who are already RNs. Seek financial help, need not be from a school or anything connected to nursing.
Wow. That is insanity. Where did you go that your BSN cost you $60K in student debt??? I am finishing my MSN in a month and a half and barely have $9K.I do not know what to advise you. It was a bad monetary decision and I don't know of anyone that will pay off that kind of money. Hopefully others have some resources for you.
Off topic: I'm interested in ADN-MSN programs. May I know what school you went to?
I know how you feel. I'm graduating with my BSN from a private college in May and will have over 50000 in debt, myself. It's worth it, though, because I these days a BSB is pretty much required just to work as a new grad and I started as an LPN, not an RN, and the waiting lists are so long. Anyway, if you want to pay it off quick, find a hospital that qualifies as a critical access hospital and apply for the HRSA loan forgiveness. They pay 60% of your loan for a 2-year agreement or 85% for 3 years. Keep in mind that those types of hospitals will probably pay less and have not as great working conditions because they don't get adequate funding. I've never heard of hospitals paying loan forgiveness, but they will pay tuition reimbursement if you want to go back for your MSN.

I'm not even sure where all these other people are getting their nursing degrees way cheaper but I'm in Cali where soooooo many nursing schools are impacted. After redoing my prerequisites multiple times because they kept expiring I went ahead and did a private ADN and its $65K. If I did the private BSN it would have been about $130K.
I did the cheapest I could find.
Trying getting a loan forgiveness program or an employer that helps with loan repayment, its what I am hoping to do.
OP I don't know if this applies, but I just looked on the HRSA application and it says LPNs are ineligible, so you might not be either. It might be for pre-licensure BSN graduates and NPs only, so really look at that.
Can you give a link? I've looked into it but hadn't seen that part. I haven't taken my boards yet but it was the route I was hoping to take to help with my loans.

You said 60 thousand, then said you had to pay over $600 for ten payments. Do you mean $6,000? If you paid $60,000 for an rn-bsn, without help, I have no advice for you.
