I am shocked and excited! I woke up with a migraine, complete with vomiting and a low grade temp. So, I called in at 6am. I usually drag myself in to work when sick because I do not usually get sent a sub, but my g-button kid was out for surgery all week, so I figured staff could handle it without me. Low and behold they sent me a sub! So my kiddos all got taken care of and I got a dark, dark room and a cool washcloth, guilt-free!
Do you all generally get subs when you call in sick? Seems like in my district, the only way to get one is to schedule your days off months in advance, or get really lucky like I did!

We have a few subs for our district. They can usually cover. If need be I have been the one to be pulled to another school though because i've got the smallest number of students and no dalies right now...

I get subs now! I had a principal that thought that he and the secretary would handle my office when I'm out...after a few times of that..I got subs!
Bwa ha ha ha! Hopefully that earned you a little more respect with Admin too!
We are short several nurses this year so many subs are doing long term assignmants at schools with no nurse, leaving us few to cover absences. Maybe things are improving now, though.
I love that once the word gets out that there is a "new" nurse, everyone makes up illnesses to go check her out. My poor sub saw almost twice the number I have been averaging! Now today they are coming to my office to make sure I am back :) The sub did mention that all my staff bragged on me, so that made me feel pretty good. It's nice to be wanted!

I feel so lucky. In our district we have a system called Aesop. I just go online and put it on the computer whether I need the day off because I'm sick or I want a personal day, then it's the district's responsibility to find a replacement. We currently have 3 permanent subs in the district. The perm subs assist the middle school nurses and are called if needed elsewhere. It's a great system... no phone calls are needed!

Wow-a SUB!!! You are lucky. We have AESOP, too, but since we have no subs, we put in the absence, but no one shows up. I usually drag myself to school too if at all possible because if I'm not there, my 1,000 kids are out of luck that day. We do have a teacher's aid who will give the meds.
Hope you're feeling better, Purple.
That is just like us, we put into the computer for subs but usually no one shows.
I am feeling much better, thanks! Luckily the big bad migranes are few and very far between.

I'm agency, so there is no sub for me. Luckily, I've only had to call in twice in 17 months.
