I got in to nursing school!!!! I received my acceptance letter last nigh!!! WOO HOO!!!!
You can't dip below a "C" at our college. I have a GPA Accumulative of 3.0.
I have a long, long history at this school starting in 1990...so I have about 160 credits already. I'm a graduate of their surgical technology program so it was a given that I would be priority during application time.
Depends on what you mean by that. I have taken ALL of my pre-reqs online. There is the evening/weekend course @ FCCJ and I understand that some of it can be taken online (not sure about that). Where do you plan on going to NS?
I did take most of my prereqs online at FCCJ/SJRCC. But, I started last week at Sanford Brown's new program. But it would be awesome to do the actual nursing stuff as hybrid! I quit my job so I could start now, I had applied to the nights/weekends program (to start in July) and accepted but they called me and offered me a spot to start now and I couldn't pass up the opportunity. I am a medical assistant and got a job at the Duval County jail working weekends while I am in school.
That's cool! I am waiting for the Summer 09 acceptance letter. I only applied for nights/weekends in the silly hope that the economy improves and I can get a job! Right now I "earn" more on unemployment than most lower level jobs will pay me to work FT! That being the case, I would be better off studying! (my prev job was $37/hr).

My original plan was to apply for the nights/weekends at FCCJ. Well, actually that was my second plan (my original plan was SJRCC Orange Park, but I changed my mind after much negative feedback on their program and then accepting a Mon-Fri job). I did all of my prereqs except college algebra and micro. I have all A's but it is so hard to try and take these classes (math is so HARD for me) and work the way I have been. I also took a huge paycut from my previous job in which I was laid off (corporate merger). I finally have accepted that I no longer make that much money. After I started working I was depressed because I was making half what I used to and I had to just put that behind me. Even after NS I won't be making what I did, but I will get close and I will be happy. I did receive unemployment comp but when the 6 months was up that was it. I know that they have since extended it, but I already started working before they extended it. Anyway, I am sure with 5 kids and especially if you need daycare you are really doing better. Anyway, I just wanted to say that I understand where you are at! And, if you don't get nights and weekends, you might consider SBI. They have a night class starting in July. They transfer your prereqs and not as long of a wait. Although, I think they told me that they were getting close to closing the July class. If you take the NLN exam and do well I am sure they would give you a spot. What part of Jax are you in?
I'm on the westside near Cecil Field.
I don't have to worry about daycare....my youngest is 16! I hate that this bad economy stuff hit you too. I am trying to stay positive....before I was worried about taking the pay cut I would get in nursing....now I look at the increase from unemployment!!!!
Honestly, I don't think I should have to be too concerned about the FCCJ acceptance. I applied with 219 pts. Spring semester's evening/weekend class cut off at 190-something. My hubby has been worried about me working and attending NS. All his buddies tell him how tough NS is and that I would need a lot of time to study.
Sometimes things happen for a reason! Maybe this is God's way of arranging plenty of time to study!
