I had experience with special needs children while in college (about 4 years of it) but I have been in the ER for the last year!!
Actually, the way they do it is I will mostly take care of the kids after they get out of surgery, but you can sign up the be the kid's "primary nurse" if you really connect with them and the family to follow them throughout their hospital stay and after they go home!
I will work on the floor in the inpatient unit, but the outpatient clinic is just down the hall, so you can see your kiddos after they go home and come back for checkups!! :) !!!

I was offered a job as a pediatric transplant nurse today. It's pretty much everything I went to school to be a nurse for. :) I have never been happier to start a job!
Nervous about the talk with the current boss tomorrow, but once that is over with, I can get back to being giddy like a 4 year old going to Disneyland! :)
