Finally!
I was laid off from the informatics spot in June and have been looking since. Have been calling a nursing home/rehab in a neighboring town periodically. Went down today to fill out an application et voila! I'm a night RN on a 40 bed unit.
:)
Welcome back to the wonderful world of LTC!!
It'll kick your butt for the first few weeks, but before you know it, you'll hit your stride and find a whole new lease on life.......it's a great move for the middle-aged nurse who's been away from the bedside for awhile, IMO. Heck, I'm more efficient than I've ever been, and I've lost a bunch of weight as well---both of which are fringe benefits I'd never expected when I dragged my sorry carcass into my friend's office last fall and begged for a job so I could quit my miserable management position.
Good luck, Sue, and let us know how it's going. And I agree, your 40:1 patient/nurse ratio on NOCS is a good one; you'll be busy, but it shouldn't be too overwhelming. Enjoy!
