:balloons: I just found out that I got into the nursing program for Oct. 2006 @ Chamberlain College of Nursing in St.Louis formerly known as Deaconess College of Nursing. I'm so excited I will finally get to make a move towards my degree and hopefully soon be an RN. My advisor said that I will get my package next week. Good Luck to all that have applied & I hope to make new friends & see new faces in St.Louis.
Future RN, Carolyn
Congrats! I assume you are doing the RN program? I am already an RN and getting my BSN at Chamberlain (although through the online program). If you have any questions or need help with anything, please let me know. I have some NCLEX review books I can let you have if you want them, they are a great study tool.
I know what classes I am supposed to be taking, I have my books. I did speak to my advisor ( I had to call her) and found out that students are required to take classes in sequence as far as the program is laid out, it seems like the advisor just plugs you in where you need to be.
.......I do not have any syllabi, don't know who my instructors will be, have not received an award letter for financial aid, or any student loan instructions/information.
I understand that students will be getting award letters....hum.....last week....and that we will get specific info on our classes the week before, which to my understanding is next week, but some information states that 11/6 is the start and not 10/30.
I personally am trying to be very patient....very patient and understanding as the school has gone through some recent changes and staff has been moved around a bit.
I would be interested in hearing where other students are in this process. And I am really hoping that the beginning of classes ( whenever that may be) is very smooth and straight forward.
Anyone else have any insight into the whole Chamberlain process?
Kris
Total ditto to everything you stated I was just too lazy to type out the whole situation.
Financial Aid gave me an estimate over the phone and was pretty confident about the figures. I budgeted based on that verbal estimate and went ahead and purchased all my books.
My advisor says my schedule was submitted 2 weeks ago but I have no email or standard mail that lists my classes.
I don't like handling things at the last minute. It's not even clear when classes start.

Well....I guess I am glad to hear that you are in the same boat as me as far as info ( or lack there of) and I am dissapointed to hear that you are in the same boat as me...because that means that all of us could be here too.
About 2 years ago I was enrolled in a nursing program similar to this one that completely folded, out of the blue, no warning, I have no credits, no degree and 2 student loans that I repaying. I am extremely hesitant to just sit back and wait for everything to be put together at the last minute and I will not, I repeat NOT secure any kind of private loan whatsoever to pay for classes. Financial aid said it all looked good that I would get grant and then federal loan to cover the rest, I have just not seen anything in writing. My books are shelved, but I have not opened any plastic wrap. I ended up paying a tad over a hundred more for the books because used were not available....can we say OUCH! I paid with debit card and my account went into INSF faster then I could deposit more cash.
I did get an email from my advisor with my courses and several attachments, I would assume that everyone would get the same info....
I guess we just continue to wait.

I had some questions about clinicals too,and i e-mailed the clinicals coordinator and she gave me the different clinicals site in the Dallas area. There are about 2 sites close to where I live.Depending on your area, you might want to contact them to know if they have sites in your area.
Let me know if you got them;in the meantime I'll look up her e-mail address 4 u.
