Hey Natingale, congratulations on accomplishing a major nursing "task"...
I remember my first attempt. My instructor was standing next to me, i had all my "equipment" beside me. I carefully explained to the patient what I was about to do, she (the patient) very kindly rolled over. I visualized my landmarks, made my "X" marks [do students still do that?] took a deep breath and.....MISSED. I had closed my eyes and I hit the mattress instead. Sigh.

awww congratulations. I remember when I gave my first injection, I ran home and called my mom, i was so excited, i was talking so fast to try to tell her everything lol.
I remember hanging my first IV to, I felt supremely stupid doing the whole thing, especially when i had to do it with the pump lol. I still feel supremely stupid with IV's.
isn't it exhilarating!! i gave my first injection last semester, which was the first time i felt like a "real" nurse (sitting in class just isn't enough!). we did flu shots for faculty members...and then my nursing instructor had me do hers. thank god everything went okay!! i have yet to hang an IV, but hopefully i'll get to next week for my surgical clinical. =)
