i went to the interview today and got insulted! well, in this case, i said to myself, it is a place i dont want to work anyway...
have you tried graduate services at your school? maybe you could get an instructor or someone to look over your resume and your interview technique/skills. not attempting to pour salt in the wound, but the way you feel comes across in your posts, maybe you could do a mock interview and get their input and suggestions, maybe your feelings come across in your interview, as if you've already defeated yourself.
i'm sorry you're having such a hard time, i hope it gets better for you. i graduate in a little over 3 months and have had several interviews already just to get my face and name out there and to get a feel of what the nursing interview is like. i went to smaller places i wasn't considering, to use as practice, but every place i went to, i interview as if this is my dream job, i'm happy to be there, and that to work in that facility is the reason why i went to nursing school.
i went to a job fair recently, and i went to specifically ask several nurse recruiters of the bigger san diego hospitals of the several hundred applications/resumes they get online for one position, how can i seperate myself from the rest? i was told that certifications are what set people apart, if you taking the time to get acls or ekg certified really make you stand out. also, i was told that the fatal mistake that many people make in their applications and resumes is not placing in their resumes that they have a current california lvn license and the number, just saying you're an lvn isn't enough. because if you leave that out, you leave the recruiter to wonder and if your resume does not stand out, they won't waste their time to call you and find out, so you get placed in the no pile. they also told me that they take a lot of notice in how you present yourself, how you are dressed, if you come dressed like you were running errands or dressed like you mean business. also, they like when you know something about where you hope to work, anyplace i interview, the night before i research something about it, awards won, community involvement. something so that the next day when i'm asked; do you know what we do here; or what do you know about us, i have something more to say than 'no' or 'i don't know'. because if you don't know, then what are you doing there, even more, why should they hire you? just a few things i learned over my few years of interviewing.
i'm sorry this is so long, just want to help because you sound like you are now defeating yourself. the next time you have an interview go in as if the job is yours and sell yourself, you may not have the most experience, but if you go in enthusiastic willing to learn and show them in the interview what they can expect from you each day, hopefully things will turn around for you. there was a fantastic thread (sticky) under a different forum that had dozens of interview questions, i printed it out and went over and over the questions it really helped so much. here it is:

and for the questions and some even have sample answers:

this thread has so much info. hope it goes better for you bala and everyone else having a hard time.

Wow, I am an LVN, and I know that my home health agency and all the others around Sacramento are DESPERATE for nurses.
I read through the rest of the thread and I am just dumbfounded. Are you presenting yourself professionally? Well dressed? A little make-up, neatly groomed, smiling, using proper english, a firm handshake, etc? Is your resume free of typos or spelling errors?
I am not bragging, but since I have been an LVN, I have been offered every job I have applied for. I don't think I am special, just friendly, and employers are desperate for nurses.

Hello -
I am a new grad LVN and job seaker. Sounds like there may be difficulty getting that first job now that local hospitals are no longer hiring LVNs.
I am particularly interested in hospice, however, and those that do hire us require experience in hospitals.
Home health sounds like a good place to get some experience. Any ideas where to look for those kinds of agencies. Don't see them in yellow pages.
Thanks
