I really need help!
All I have ever wanted to do is be a nurse. I am a student with literally one prereq class left and a clinical application in hand. Here is my problem.... the essay!
I have already written this essay 5 times. Yes I am putting too much pressure on myself over this, but I just want it to be perfect and really reflect me. The topic is to write a BRIEF personal statement about my perception of the nursing profession. I have the majority of it written but one paragraph really needs some work.
I would like to know, what each of you considers important characteristics that make a nurse a good nurse. I want a nurses perspective.
Here is what I think so far...
a good listener/communicator
team player
quick thinker
ability to prioritze
compassion, but more importantly empathy
can you help me brainstorm some more? Thanks!

I like the attributes you have listed so far. GOOD LUCK!
Thanks, its just hard when you are not yet a nurse to know what it takes to be a "good" nurse you know? The last thing I want to do is write an essay to nurses about being a nurse and be wrong about it!

ability to be a "risk-taker" This was something they imbedded in us repeatedly when I was a student. I dont see it stated much today in programs but I think it is a very intregal part and trait in order to be a good nurse.
