ANY RECOMMENDATIONS ON PASSING THE NCLEX CAUSE I FAILED IT ONCE ALREADY. PLANNING TO TAKE IT ON APRIL AGAIN. WHAT RESOURCE DO YOU ALL USE? HOW MANY HOURS PER DAY TO STUDY? WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO STUDY? ANY SUGGESTION WILL BE HIGHLY APPRECIATED. THANKS.health_meter.png

I failed my first time with 75 so I used Kaplan. Did all of the Qbank questions and question trainers. Best advice is practice practice practice doing NCLEX-style questions. I believe Kaplan gives you questions that is most similar to the actual exam. I did about 100-150 questions per day and then read the rationales for questions I got wrong AND correct. See why you got these wrong and those right. Sometimes I re-did the wrong questions. I tried to familarize myself with the questions. Like I mentioned before, its like training for a marathon. You have to keep practicing and getting used to the style while progressing. So when you actually take the exam again, you won't be surprised or thrown off guard and be more prepared. I took the NCLEX the second time and passed with 85 questions. Good luck to you and hope you pass the second time around!

Keep practising questions, make sure you understand what it is you are being asked. Read the rationale it will either back you up if you got the question right or point you in the right direction if you got it wrong. Do not rush to resit the exam. Good luck

i failed my first time too, and i did everything that all the sites and everyone else said to do, i did 300 questions per day using the saunders and studied the rationales, i reviewed for about a month and a half and failed the exam anyway. on my second time around, i didn't do any serious studying, threw out my saunders book, i only did the kaplan question trainer, about 1 week before my exam, and read and reread gapuz's guide for passing foreign exams over and over and over again. i did my question 7 the night before my exam, and got a 58%, all my other scores were in that range too. i know some of them say to relax the night before your exam, but i think it depends on what kind of study habits you have to begin with, im more of a "cramming is an art" student type. this time around, i passed with 75 questions :D

Would suggest what the others said and add that you should start your new study program as if you had never tested before. Resist the urge to gloss over questions because you think you know that area. Go over everything and pay attention to each rationale. Good luck.

I just received my results today from my NCLEX that I took on Monday. I failed the first time also at 265 questions, this time I shut off at 93 questions. I used Saunders 4th edition and that only. I went thru the entire book from Chp 1-76 and did the test at the end of each chp and if I got lower than a 75% I read that chp took the test over then moved on. It took me about a mth to complete the entire book. Then after that I used the cd ONLY and did 100 QUESTIONS, ONLY 100 QUESTIONS per day for 45 days up until my exam, which was 4/20.Two days before my exam I closed my book and relaxed. And now today I am officially an RN. Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also used the Saunder's 4th edition. I took the post-tests at the end of each chapter and if I didn't do well,I went back through the chapter. I practiced with CD almost daily. I even moved my test date up by 2 weeks because I was sooooo sick of studying!! I passed on the first try. Good luck to you.

I took my exam last April 20 and until now I don't know if I passed it. That was my first take and I stopped at 75 questions. I could not find my name in the BRN website...:-(

I think I have to forget the thought that I passed it...and instead start studying again. So frustrating!

Takes anything from 3days to 4 weeks for the BRN to show name and that is as long as you have a SSN. Until you get your results I would wait before studying again

To Silverdragon102:

Were there also cases that the examinee has a SSN, passed the exam but his/her name was not posted in the BRN website? Are there also cases that the names of the examinees don't appear in the BRN website but were just notified thru the mail?

Yes, we have had members post that they got a letter before seeing their name on website. If you haven't heard anything by 2 weeks contact BRN and make sure there are no issues with your file. Some members found out their transcripts hadn't been sent and that was causing a delay on results

Thank you very much for that reply. You keep my slim hope alive till I'll receive the letter from the BRN.
