I have failed the nclex pn (pvt)

Published

okay so it's official...after reading beyond thousands of posts I've decided to join this website and conclude that the pvt is true! i hate the nclex and I hate it all.

Hang in there...i dont think there is anyone who likes the Nclex...but its part of our learning and becoming a licensed or registered nurse.....so eventhough you hate it...for now you just have to be in love with it and even be married to it for a while then after you pass the monster you can divorce it , you notice, iam just trying to cheer you up..(((((((((hugs)))))), its not end of the world and trust me you can try again and pass. please let us know if we can help...

LOL-- I like diana's thinking: we just have to fall in love with it and marry it; then divorce later. :)

Hang in there biancha. Sometimes we have to lose some battles to win a war. Let's woo that NCLEX some more and know it's ends and means. ;)

LOL. * hands tissues and punching gloves to biancha*

thanks guys! ugh I did that stupid pearson vue trick and I prayed that it wasn't real....omg my knees have rug burn, i prayed so hard! I feel so dumb!!!!!! like really? they freakin asked me things i wouldn't have even thought for a second to study for some of the crap they asked me. Who learned about long leg plaster clast in school? really! ugh

But I will be okay....I have 45 days to get it right. I think I should reaaaallly focus on lab values that implementation i don't know. i feel that there is no specific ways or things to study. you just have to familiarize yourself with being a nurse period.

Who likes the nclex exam anyways! But hang in there. Its not the end of the world. We should be grateful we have the opportunity to retake it. I know your pain since ive gone through it 4 times and im at my 5th attempt next wednesday even though ive had classmates who passed it a while back. All that matters to me is i pass my exam next week and get my license. Go at a clean slate, clear your mind and start from scratch. Believe me for 3 months ive studied, postponed numerous time i just want to tackle this and challenge it this time around. Good luck and my prayers go out to u! U can do it!

U guys are so inspirational honestly.. didn't know this website existed until I went searching for failing at 85 questions lol

Specializes in OB (with a history of cardiac).

Did you get something from your BON saying for a fact you failed?

NCLEX is like that though- asking you things that you never learned, or throwing you for a loop or wording questions somewhat goofy like. Went through the agony twice: once for the PN and once for RN. Both times for whatever reason, I found out I passed through my BON website. Never did the Pearson Vue Trick, never even heard of it until long after I was an RN. At any rate, you can't learn it all, even from studying NCLEX guides. You reach a point and have to have faith that that's it. You can do no more, and probably, whether you failed or not, you probably hit that point and would not have been able to process any more than you had studied.

NCLEX is a mean old thing, but it's a common bond all the nurses have. Hey, at least you didn't have to take it like they did 20 years ago, right? Paper and pencil, and then a 3 month wait or something like that?

Yah i heard the revised pn test has totally changed- meaning you are given a lot of questions / topics that youve never heard of before or even learned in nursing school. I guess irs their way of seeing how good of a critical thinker you are. This will be my 1st time taking the new revised version of pn. But from what i have been reading on here if you know ur basics, lab values, pharma abbreviations you should be ok. I recommended hurst review- they have wonderful techniques. I sat in for a live review and i learned more than from online. It was worth it! Then again its all a matter of Gods time and plan..

Yea in FL the results are super fast. Board of nursing had it in less than 24hours . Lol it is a mean old thing

yea I will try the Hurst review!!! Thanks : )

Specializes in pediatrics, geriatric, developmentally d.

yeah i took the NclexPn when it was updated so i was part of the "new" pn test takers it was gruesome i felt like i did horrible i basically "guessed" at everything i did the critical thinking and i felt the answers i chose were the right answers. just do your best and remember the basics dont try and go memorizing everything make sure you KNOW why, how and what the disease process does to the bodies. try grouping like all beta-blockers, -olols, -prils..etc know what they are for even if you have never seen/heard of a med you'll know what it deals with because of the ending. Goodluck

Keep up the studying and hard work! I would recommend using this NCLEX review resource on Elsevier's student life site: Elsevier Student Life | NCLEX. As you navigate around the site you will find tools to use to help you gain the confidence to take your exam. Take a look. I hope this helps and good luck everybody!
