Hi guys. Today is another day, and i am waiting for tomorrow to come to see the official results.... But since when i did the trick it went to the CC page, i don't want to feel any hopes for something that might not be... I took my first exam in april... and after 86 questions i failed miserably.... I used kaplan mainly for the first time. The second time i went all the way to 265 questions. i HAD a lot of SATA and drag and drop. I also had like 5 EKGs. No math. i felt CONFIDENT this time. I used Lacharity, NCSBN, Saunders, and some ATI. i DONT KNOW WHAT to think... I am so annoyed with myself. My husband works everyday like crazy and has no day off. I was praying everyday and hoped that I would pass so that I can work as a nurse, and finally help him, but I guess not. Tomorrow ill know for sure. Any input you guys might have will be truly appreciated. Thanks.

I am sorry. The good news is if you did all 265 questions you were very close to passing. So one more time and you will pass this horrible test and be a RN. :-) You said you did NCSBN? I am doing that now as I prepare for the 3rd and final time. My hubby works 50+ hours each week too and our bills are piling up so this is my last try. I must go back to work soon. So I do understand your predicament. Just keep on and get that positive attitude back because you are going to pass the NCLEX this next time.

Since you went the full 265, you're now very much at or near passing in basically every area. The computer wouldn't have kept asking questions if you weren't. So, I suggest that you switch your study strategy up. Of course you'll need to wait for the CPR to come out to tell you more specifically what you need to study, but I really don't think it's content you need at this point. I think you need to concentrate more on how to pick apart the exam questions and taking your time to think through the question and answers. Remember, the answers are all right there on the screen. I don't think the NCLEX has a "none of the above" answer, so the most correct answer is there.

You now know that the exam can go the full 265. Expect it to next time. Because you can't skip a question and come back to it later, the only question that matters is the one in front of you. You must answer that question before you can move on. With each new question you get, breathe. Read the question, answer it in your head and then read the answers. If one of them matches, you might be in the right ball park. Go back and re-read the question and look for key words and phrases that may provide you a clue as to what the question is really asking. Then re-read the answers and select the best answer. Then move on.

Even with math problems, they might give you a LOT of information, but the question might be something as "simple" such as how much drug did the patient get over an hour.

Keep studying, but look for strategies to find the best answer. I really think you're almost there!

The issue may not necessarily the source of the review, but how one approaches the NCLEX itself: understanding the four concepts of becoming a competent, entry-level nurse:

1. Safe, effective care;

2.Health promotion;

3.Physiological Integrity;

4.Psychosocial integrity

Will determine WHAT the question is asking you; the question may be Respiratory related-but is it a Health Promotion or a Safety, or a Physiological or a Psychosocial one? Would you know the difference and choose the BEST answer?

Once one understands the concepts of NCLEX, they can do so successfully.

Look at the performance review, tailor a study plan to include practice questions up to the max amount, review rationales; if one doesn't understand the rationale, review content...although you may not have that issue.

Best wishes.
