When I started clinicals, we only had 1 patient and would assist the CNA. I focused on improving my patient communication. Paperwork was tedious at the time because we hadn't gone paperless yet. I always tried to pick patients with helpful nurses.
sunny time 94 Posts Nov 19, 2017 don't go any farther. if you are in it for the money change courses. you are not nursing material. you must love your job and would do it even if you did not get paid. you should feel excited about going to your shift and have ideas how you are going to help your patients get better or live the rest of their life in a productive way. I can tell that you are not going to be a dedicated nurse. you will call in a lot, look for ways to skirt your job and probably change jobs frequently looking for satisfaction. just count this as a lesson learned and move on.

People go into nursing for a variety of reasons which include job security and decent pay. I for one hated clinical, I became a nurse because working in social services didn't pay the bills (nurses made way more money...and that's a similar reason why many of my coworkers became nurses as well), and I never miss work, never find ways to skirt my duties, and don't job hop looking for satisfaction. I left my first position, after 2 years, looking for new learning experiences and the pay was higher. Just because someone is entering nursing for the decent pay and job security doesn't automatically mean they will make terrible nurses.
