I was dismissed from work as Nurse due to misconduct...I have worked with another hospital as an agency nurse meanwhile offsick. The hospital will refer me my case to NMC..whats my chance of applying as a nurse in Australia?..My big regrets is I have applied to Australia as a nurse back in 2003, and 2nd attempt in 2007...Is it the end of my nursing career?..I desperately need your advices please :cry::cry::crying2::crying2::crying2:

The obligation to the Australian citizens by our numerous (at the moment) Nurses Registration Boards is to protect them from nurses that are not trustworthy or worthy to care for them. If you had shoplifted as a teenager years ago, ok, but this is an action you have done while working as a Registered Nurse.

If you are working somewhere else while taking sick pay from another employer it is considered fraud over here ... do I or others want a nurse that has been accused of committing this crime? its up to the assessors of the Nurses Board you apply to. There is probably a few of our colleagues that have done the same thing but have not been caught!!

Why have you not been accepted into Australia before?

I do know that one of the criteria for the Nursing Board of Victoria for overseas trained nurses is to be known by their Nurses Boards "being of good standard" in the country that they practise.

Though you have not been wiped from your country's Nursing register yet!!! Hospital may not refer as an afterthought, have just threatened you with it, or Nursing Board may just give you a warning, you can only wait and see....

I appreciate you honesty...I have been offered a job in a one of the Sydney hospitals..but i did not accept the offer as I was promoted..which I regret until now...this incident happened in October last year..and I was dismissed last week...

Sorry to hear of your difficulties. Someone I knew once was threatened that a complaint would be made to the Board. They waited awhile, then called the Board to inquire, and found out that nothing had been done. Perhaps this is the case with you. Wait a period of time, then contact the Registry. You will want to do this because sometimes these actions take a long time to be dealt with and you want to be able to move on without having this hanging over your head. Hope this is favorably resolved for you.

Thank you so much for you replies...negative or positive comments, inputs, point of views are all welcome as I desperately need all your suggestions...I know I have committed this offense and I was hoping that the hospital I have committed the offense to will understand my mitigating circumstances..but they didnt...and I know ..offense is an offense..and I have to be penalized..But I have to move on..I have a family...I regret for the actions I have done and I wish I have made a wiser decision before...Like any other unfortunate people around..I also ask for a chance.

surgy we are sorry that you have experienced such difficulty, but as I said in your other thread the questions you ask can only be answered by the relevant nursing councils. It would in inappropriate for any member here to speculate as to the response that you will get from your questions.
