I am a nursing student and I have a concept map due this afternoon on 'unstable blood glucose'.

could anyone help me how to figure out:

1) 1 significant nursing diagnosis r/t to the primary medical diagnosis w/ 3 part format. "no risk for" diagnosis will be accept.

2) 1 long term goal and 2 short goal

3) 3 nursing interventions

4) collaborative intervention and correlate these to the nursing dx.

5) diagnostic test

6) outcomes of goals

What have you got so far?

Here at AN, the expectation is to show your work so you can get feedback on it.

Otherwise, it may be assumed that you just want others to do your homework for you... and that is never well received.

Also, what you are looking for in your assignment is dependent on your research on your pt.

For example, there are many reasons why a pt may have unstable glucose so we have no way of knowing.

If you go up to a nurse, do you just say "HEY, I CAN'T FIND THE SALINE FLUSHES"

Or do you say "Hey, I looked in the supply closet where the saline flushes are suppose to be, but didn't see them there. Is there anywhere else I can look?"

First off Edmond I would like to apologize for the rude remarks made to you! I understand what you are asking. See that's the first problem I've got with so called nurses. They always think you are lazy and dumb. For them to be nurses they don't even have a clue. What I see you asking is that you don't understand how to put it together, not that you want someone to do your work. I feel where you are coming from, I'm in nursing school myself and have experienced some of the same judgemental crap! I don't know why they think we are all lazy, unless that's how they were in school. I'm having trouble as well with this same thing. So if I could help you I would. Wow, way to bring your own baggage to the table.

No one called the OP lazy or dumb.

The OP did nothing but post the assignment on here. People are willing to help fill in the blanks when needed, but I can't tell where the blanks are without knowing what the OP has already come up with.

OP.......We are more than happy to help with homework...but we will not do it for you. Our goal is making each and every member the best nurse they can be.

In nursing ....what you learn is vital to becoming the best nurse you can be....you will learn things that you will have to carry with you everyday. Gone are the days of....learn it for the test and I'll never see it again.

Care plans/maps are not just an exercise in driving you mad....but they are vital in teaching you how to critically think...how to develop the best plan on how to care for your patient and what to take care of first.....these are vital skills towards being a good nurse. Care plans are recipes to know how to care for you patient...what do you do first and why...... To know what to do and how to do it well....The difference between a line cook at Mickey D's and a 5 star chef.

Nursing takes planning.....every thing you will do as a nurse involves planning. School is set up to help you develop planning skills. Waiting until the last possible moment to address what is needed to be done.....can cost a patient their life.

Like all nurses we will ask for all the information and seek all the information to make the best decision possible and to provide the best information possible.

What semester are you in? What care plan book do you have? If you don't have a good care plan book I suggest you get one for you will be using it the rest of your schooling and you will not be able to develop care plans/maps without one. I use Ackley: Nursing Diagnosis Handbook, 9th Edition and Gulanick: Nursing Care Plans, 7th Edition. Show me how to best help you.

If you have read your med-surg textbook and the supplemental reading on diabetes they doubtless already assigned you, you will find all these answers. If you have already done that and are still confused, ask us to help you with what confuses you. We love to help students. However: Do not expect to come here and have us fill in those blanks for you with no evidence that you have done more than hit "Post." AllNurses is not "Ask Jeeves." :)
