hi! i'm so excited to take nclex this week and start my new rn job that i went to the bookstore last weekend and bought these two books. one is entitled "your first year as a nurse" by donna cardillo and the other is called "how to survive and maybe even love your life as a nurse." i just started to look through them-they're funny and filled with good advice! :) it's so exciting to be starting my career as a nurse! :)
interesting books you got there christvs. how much it costs you? per book?
wishing you positive result on your exam.:)
Another good book is :
Training Wheels for Nursese: What I wish I'd known my First 100 Days on the Job: Wisdom, Tips, and Warnings from Experienced Nurses.
by Barbara Arnoldussen, ISBN 0-7432-6191-7 $12.00
My copy was a graduation gift, its a great break from NCLEX studying!! I highlighted the tips I wanted to remember. Small enough to fit in one's locker when you need a little escape and reassurance!
Hi all,
The book that I keep going back to is Training wheels for nurses. Bijou Spice is right, it is a wonderful book. I pick it up when I am frustrated and maybe just had a bad day at work and it reminds me that we all have either been there, or are there right now. It makes me feel part of a group rather than all alone with my difficulties. It is funny, smart, serious, and timely. I don't think I'll stop using it even after my first year as a nurse.
The biggest thing that I've learned is Confidence. Even if you don't have it, you have to look like you do. :chuckle
