I attend Resurrection University -- Ask me your questions!

Published

Other threads about Resu applications had a lot of questions for me and other students about the program that are more personal, not technical, such as what it's like, the difficulty, etc. Rather than derail an existing thread and going off topic, I started this thread so you can ask me your questions.I just started at Resu in the daytime BSN in fall 2012. I love it! It's a lot of work but so far it's about what I expected. Please keep in mind I won't have all the answers right now because I just started my program, but over time hopefully I can help you even more.So let's keep this conversation going with your questions or concerns, and hopefully another present or past student will drop in as well!

Thank you!

Also, I am not sure about the update with the ATI pass or fail change. I had orientation a couple of weeks ago and the school made it seem like we were going to have these tests still, and if we didn't pass then we could fail the class. One of the staff members from student services said that they started the ati testing because the nclex rates weren't as high before. I would assume they wouldn't stop with the pass fail system. He also said that because of this pass fail rule they have, it makes it a lot easier to pass the actual nclex.

Hi, for the course requirements at ResU for the BSN program, does there have to be a minimum grade letter or jus a minimum of a 2.7 Science GPA?

Hello there,

I got accepted to Res U BSN day program, would you recommend to buy the books or rent them? are any book you will definitely keep?

Hi, Im a foreign nurse from Phil and just passed NCLEX RN, Do I need to pay the license application fee separately in Illinois? Thanks

What did you do for commute or apartments? I live in NWI and no way is the commute worth it. it would be a total of 3 hours there and back on a good day. Just curious if you rented an apartment or got a place with another student. thanks!

I commute from home in Naperville which is like an hour away. The apartments in the city are kind of expensive if you were going to go that route. There really isn't any on campus or student apartments like other universities because this school is very small. (Only 3 floors at a small medical center). If you were to get an apartment I would try and look at the suburbs

The majority of my cohort commutes from their homes

Hi PrayToTheUnicorn!

I know that I am joining this conversation much after the fact, but I was recently accepted to Res U for Spring 2016. Now that you've graduated, I am just wondering if you felt any less prepared than other nurses in your field because of the accelerated program?

Thanks for all of your insight on this thread, and anymore you can provide!

By chance do you know the graduation rate

I am hoping to get in the program in the fall! What did you score in the TEAS test? are you doing the 16 or 20 months

I got into the program for Jan 2016 (start date) / daytime program/ 16 months. The guy that made this post might have more info for you, but I'll tell you about my personal teas experience. First off, I went and bought the latest version of the ATI Teas V Review book (link at bottom) and studied fairly rigorously for about 1 month. I hit the science and math sections harder than the English and reading sections - i believe the sciences are worth a larger % of the overall test. Take the practice tests in the back of the book and set a timer. Read the sections and take notes and maybe create your own personal tests based on the information in each section (that's how I memorize things). Once I felt somewhat confident, I took the actual ATI practice test online- not sure how much it cost. I received a 74%. I went back and studied the sections I struggled with and then took the actual TEAS exam at ResU 3 days later. I was surprised when my score came back a 92%. I was very happy and owed much of it to the TEAS review book and online test. Having said that, I did receive my Bachelor's degree in Biology and have seen much of that information before (especially the chemistry, physics, and anatomy.) With all this in mind, it is a good idea to use the review book as a core study tool, however you may want to look into your old bio/chem/physics books to supplement what you may not understand. Youtube and Khanacademy work wonders for understanding cell cycles and the steps of mitosis/meiosis. The math is very basic statistics, adding and subtracting (w/o calculator), long division and multiplication, and word problems. There is no calculus and a very small (if any) trigonometry...you know..SOH CAH TOA haha. I really hope this helps, and if you have any questions for me feel free to email me [email protected]

Is there anyone that can let me know what kind of a college Ressurection University is. I am really interested in it for the 16 months that it offeres for a nursing degree. Can someone answer if it is only for Catholics or are there other races that attend there. I am not Catholic, so I don't want to attend if its only for that religion.
