I attend Resurrection University -- Ask me your questions!

Published

Other threads about Resu applications had a lot of questions for me and other students about the program that are more personal, not technical, such as what it's like, the difficulty, etc. Rather than derail an existing thread and going off topic, I started this thread so you can ask me your questions.I just started at Resu in the daytime BSN in fall 2012. I love it! It's a lot of work but so far it's about what I expected. Please keep in mind I won't have all the answers right now because I just started my program, but over time hopefully I can help you even more.So let's keep this conversation going with your questions or concerns, and hopefully another present or past student will drop in as well!

Hi PrayToTheUnicorn! You seem to be extremely helpful to those looking to attend ResU! I have a question regarding the CLEP/ DSST intro to computing exam...do you know what score must be achieved to be considered for college credit?? Thank you!

I just took the DSST for intro to computing. The passing score is 400. There were 95 questions I believe and in my opinion there was nothign introductory about it. I am pretty proficient with computers, and I did a lot of research as to what kinds of questions were going to be on there. I was pretty lost most of the exam, and I got 384. I ended up having to find an online university, forking out A LOT of money (that will thankfully be reimbursed by my job) to take an intro to computers class online, since I'm starting Res in Jan. If you're going to take DSST, invest in one of their specific study guides/books- as in specifically for the DSST intro to computing exam.

Hi PrayToTheUnicorn!

Thank you for all the information you have given in your posts on this thread! It's been very informative and helpful for me as I was just notified yesterday of acceptance for Spring 2013. Got a question about uniforms - this may sound silly, but as far as shoes go, are there any particular brands and/or styles you could recommend that are approved by ResU? Comfort is key, but was hoping there were some cute styles you've seen on campus that aren't too clunky-looking compared to what are offered by the shops where we get our uniforms from. Thanks again, and I look forward to reading more informative posts from you!

The only requirement is that the shoes are white. Many girls like nursing shoes like nursemates or dansko clogs but many people wear sneakers of all brands. It's really up to you!

Thanks for the advice and the speedy reply! Am looking into a pair of Danskos - supposedly worth the investment. A friend who works as a nurse just highly recommended them!

Hi PrayToTheUnicorn!

I just saw this website and looks like you can help me!

Can you tell me about teas test? what is the best way/book/website to study for it? I'm doing my pre-requirements and would like to apply for Resurrection. Is it hard to be accepted? how soon should I apply?(when I will be done with requirements or I can do it sooner?) any advice will be helpful! Thank you :)

Hello PTTU I'm in the process of completing the required prerequisites for the BSN evening/weekend program at ResU. I'm extremely nervous. I'm not as marvelous as some of the people in these posts. I have a 2.9 GPA and I'm a mom. I work for the VA as a counselor and I'm a vet, but outside of that I have determination and diligence. I have a BA from DePaul and I was wondering how difficult is the evening program because I work right down the street from campus and I must get into the evening program? I'm grateful for your time and your posts. They really do help people like me who only asset is passion for nursing!

How important/handy is it to have a vehicle to get to clinical sites? I was contemplating selling mine when I move but now I'm not sure if I should. Thanks!

Clinicals are on the city and suburbs, so you could need a car depending on the clinical site. You can state your preferences for sites and state your special circumstances, but there is never a guarantee of first choice of placements.

All you can do is your best, put in your application and state your passion in your persoanl statement. Many people are parents and work. That is the purpose of the evening weekend, to slightly lighten the load and put classes at night and clinicals on weekends.

Thank you I will and I hope that my passion and dedication will help me develop an understanding in practicing nursing!

Hi, I was wondering have you heard of anybody that have had low GPAs that have gotten into ResU? I have serious interest to go to ResU but because of my low GPA I'm a bit nervous/scared Thank u
