I Am Freaking Out Over Ati Help!!!!!

Published

Hello I am currently enrolled in the RN program and in our program the LPN and RN work the exact same program until the LPN exit and the RN just continues on. Well I have 2 weeks left until the LPN class exits and we are facing an ATI test! I have absolutely no idea as to what to expect, in fact the only thing we have been told is study hard or we cannot advance to the next class. This frightens me because there are many students that are revisiting due to the failure of this test. Our courses are set up in 5 weeks intervals so it is very fast paced to begin with but this 5 weeks seems to be especially worse because we are in Peds which includes a Math test with 100% required (finished that), a Kaplan test, an extra clinical/course, and ATI. As you can imagine I feel like a big elephant has parked its butt right on my chest:heartbeat and has made itself quite comfortable!!!:o I am drowning here, any advise on what to expect or focus my studying on?? If I don't pass this I will have to sit out for 5 weeks and may not be able to graduate with my classmates whom I have grown to love and fought so diligently to stay with. There was 42 of us to begin with and there are only 14 "original" students. Ahhhh the stress!!!!:banghead: Any pointers on how to direct my study time would be greatly appreciated!!!

Do you have the ATI books that correspond to the classes/tests? We also have to take and pass ATI's each semester to go on. What I have found is that the material in the books prepares you for what is on the test. Just remember to "think like a nurse". Read the questions very carefully to see what is being asked and don't freak out...calm is better when taking these (from someone who has already found that stressing doesn't help!)

Good luck!

Ann

Thanks for your advice, however we do not have any type of reference for ATI, I really wasn't aware of their existence:cry:. We were only told to study every thing we had learned thus far, which really bothers me that's a years worth of work and I am sure I have deleted some of them files...lol:banghead: I have heard the Saunders book is a great resource, I am just very curious about this testing process I already have a butt load of anxiety and I know that I only have 2 weeks..:o

If you are taking ATI computerized testing, your instructors should be providing you with log in and access code information for ATI's practice tests.

A sample from my ATI book for Peds is;

Which of the following best described the stools of a child with cystic fibrosis?

a. Hard and dry with difficult evacuation

b. dark-colored tarry stools

c. blood streaked stools with mucus strands

d. fatty and foul smelling stools

A 2 year old child has had three ear infections in the past 5 months. For which of the following long-term complications of otitis media with effusion should the nurse screen the child?

a. balance difficulties

b. tinnitus

c. speech delays

d. pneumonia

Some of the questions are the "select all that apply" or have a fill in word.

I hope this helps:D

Thanks so much, we don't have any type of book or web-site to prepare for this test. Thanks again for the examples!!:yeah:

Hi Rhondanruss! I cannot believe that your school has not provided you with the codes for the practice tests, or the books. Are you only taking the comprehensive predictor test (this a just one test to sort of predict how you will do on NCLEX)? If that is the only test, then there isn't really a book for that, but there should be practice tests available for you to take online. At my school we have to take ATI's on almost every subject, every quarter, in addition to the comprehensive predictor. If I were you, I'd call ATI and ask them why your school has not provided this for you. Maybe they have to pay extra for certain services, but you are paying the school and this is a resource that they should give to the students. Makes me mad!! :o Just be calm, breathe, and think each question through. Good Luck!:heartbeat

The students in my school paid an extra $70.00, which was included with the school fees for the purchase of the ATI book. Call the ATI and ask verify.

Wow. We paid over $400 for ours. We have all of our textbooks for the whole program and the ATI books, CDs are included. Only trouble is, it feels like independent study. There is no class for ATI or for Medical Math. We have the books, but we have to teach ourselves! There is no flippin time to read the ATI books! AAAHHH....and they don't tell you which ones to read when! I better get crackin.:imbar

I have found it easiest to include whatever ATI chapters relate to the current reading for class. That way, it reinforces what you read. It seems that the ATI reading is like the "Readers' Digest" version of the text.

Good luck!

Wow a book of any sort would be nice at this point..lol I have Saunders and of course all of my text books, its just frightening. I better get to studying the test is 10/30 ugh!!!!:uhoh3:
