what is the difference between hyperstension and hypertension?
I have tried to find answers by checking Merck Manual, eMedicine, and various medical dictionaries, but they don't have "hyperstension"
thanks

I have never heard of that. Perhaps it is a typo?

Never heard of hyperstension, GingerSue.
hyperstension is mentioned in my textbook in the section about risk factors for coronary artery disease
at first I thought that it was a typo
so I looked on google and hyperstention is mentioned several times
but from what I have seen so far, I can't determine what the difference is between hyperstension and hypertension

I'm with the "must be a typo or other error" camp.
Ne'er heard of 'hyperstension'.
cheers,
google and other search engines will allow a misspelled word to appear, but if you click on the article, you will not see the misspelled word in the content.

Typo
My favorite word checker is Word Web which refers to the spelling error and says the nearest is hypertension.
