Hybrid LVN to RN schools for California Nurses!

Updated:   Published

Hello All!

This is a long stretch to ask, but does anybody know of OTHER states (besides California) who accepts Cali LVN students to do a hybrid RN program? I've heard of a school in Florida called ICHS, but I am looking for other options as well. I am willing to fly out for clinicals. TIA!

I stated in another thread of this nature, that Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson Kansas takes CA LVN's in their program, unless they shut down the pipeline within the past few weeks. There is at least one other thread where CA LVN's state they are attending this school. Do a site search.

Great! Thanks! Are you also attending or have attended Hutchinson?

No. I just read about the program here and by looks of it, looks promising. I would be inclined to choose this program over the program in FL were I in the market. Hope others give other examples.

I'm having second thoughts about ICHS because of the mixed reviews. Though it is better for me because my in laws live in FL. I am not sure how much is the tuition now. I just inquired. Also, Hutchinson looks promising as well since it's a community college. I believe their last day of application is on 1/30. I just submitted my application.

I saw these two schools for different thread. However the school from Oklahoma requires us to have a Oklahoma lpn license but I'm not sure yet if they can accept CA without applying for reciprocity first.

As for ND, I'm still gathering info about this

I just graduated in 2020 from LPN/LVN/Medic to RN online program at Hutchinson. The deadline for application is 7/30 with acceptance letters going out in Oct. The program starts in Jan with graduation in Dec.

I cannot say enough good things about this program. Yes there is travel involved for clinicals. But the clinical schedule is arranged so that you can go there and complete a large amount of hours during your time there.

My class had students from 7 different states, and Canada. There were 2 students from California. They were able to get their CA license. What they did was sit for the Kansas boards, then applied for their CA license without any problems.

If you have any questions feel free to ask. Good luck

Do you have to fly for clinicals at Hutchinsons? Is Hutchinsons School credited to CALIFORNIA BRN?

You can drive if you want to, but yes you have to do clinicals in Hutchinson. Yes it's accredited in all 50 states. The two people in my class that are from Ca did take the NCLEX for Kansas then got their Ca license.

How long is the program by the way?
