Hello All!
I have been an avid lurker on allnurses. When I was first thinking about nursing school I was looking stuff up. When I was trying to figure out how to survive nursing school I was looking stuff up. Graduation came and went, and I found myself here looking stuff up on how to pass the "dreaded" NCLEX.
Well, I took that NCLEX this afternoon, did the PVT and got the good pop-up! Not only this, but let me go ahead and say that I left the testing center feeling like: the test was not that bad. Some questions I really didn't know the answer to. Some questions I definitively knew the answer to. The rest I was able to get it down to two answers. I had less than 15 select-alls, 2 put in order, and 2 pictures. So, the majority of my 75 question exam was multiple choice.
Prior to taking the exam I was lurking to find out what to do to prepare for it. I was an average nursing student. I barely slid out of school with a 3.0. I nearly failed my critical care course, but I had made it. I had already accepted a job, and decided to relocate to another city, even already signed the lease, so everything was riding on me passing this stupid test. In May, I was wasting my time browsing my FB newsfeed, and I saw this thing called World...I had already decided that upon my graduation in June I was going to pay a pretty penny for Kaplan, so I kind of just ignored World...it kept popping up. Eventually I read some of the comments then got on allnurses to see what people had to say.
I found that most students were endorsing UWorld...well, i decided it may be worth it to buy it. I used Uworld and watched Hurst videos, not even all the Hurst videos, just the ones on subjects I was shaky with. I did 150 questions a day. I repeated questions. I read rationale after rationale. I did this for a month and a half, and deleted my social media so I would not get side-tracked.
When I took the NCLEX some of the questions were EXACTLY like Uworld. I was a skeptic, but decided to get onto allnurses, finally make an account and vouch for Uworld, because I don't think I would have passed without it. If you are a skeptic and reluctant to spend the money on UWorld, let me just strongly advise you to drop the cash on it, it is way cheaper than Kaplan and Hurst, and better.
I had access to both Kaplan and Hurst, I quit Kaplan because Uworld was so much better. I also had a Saunders book that I didn't even touch.
Good luck to you all! Let me know if I can answer any of your questions.
Thank you Uworld!

Congrats on passing. I had purchased Hurst review And used six different nclex test prep materials to study for the exam.
