HURST REVIEW--Is it worth it?

Nursing Students NCLEX

Hi Graduate Nurses,

I graduated in December and am preparing for the boards. I read a few pots in the NCLEX area on here and learned about Hurst Review. I have never heard of this. Can some one fill me in. My school uses ATI as part of on core program. Kaplan and ATI came to our school to talk about their NCLEX programs. But again I have never heard of Hurst Review. My teachers never metioned. Fellow graduates, fill me in.

Howard

I did hurst review and passed the nclex pn a year after graduation. I listened to the lectures 3-4 times each. In the car, shower every night when my baby would go to sleep. I scored a 79/125, 95/125, 88/125 on my qreview ( it was harder then the nclex for me). I also was answering 150-200 questions a day from nclex mastery app and kaplen free question trainer 1-5 and and other questions I could find. I also did Saunders questions specific to the areas I needed to work on but Saunders was to easy. I also used the study guide someone posted on this site which was helpful. I got 85 questions 35 SATA 5 excibits 1 peds math and a lot of meds, 1 ekg strip, delegation, priority etc. good luck.

I used Hurst, I did the whole program, I also listened to the lectures while I did housework. I took all 6 Q-Review questions, and I utilized Prep U working toward a level 8 mastery. I passed NCLEX in 75 questions. You have to remember, you will not know most of the information given to you on the NCLEX, instead you will need to use the knowledge you DO have to prove you are a safe nurse in situations you are unfamiliar with. They will give you drugs you have NEVER heard of, and will ask you for the adverse effect, you will need to know the difference between an adverse effect, and a side effect an adverse affect is always bad no matter what drug is given. So don't go in and stress over what you don't know, the test will be FULL of stuff you don't know, concentrate on what you know, what will harm/won't harm your pt. What levels are ALWAYS bad, Remember ABCs and Maslow's hierarchy of needs. READ THE QUESTIONS and figure out WHAT they want to know, then find the answer.

I used HURST and loved it. They do test taking strategies as well, but not a lot. I also used LaCharity Prioritization and Delegation and it was really helpful!

Everyone learns differently. You will find some people (like me) who LOVED HURST and swear by it. You will find others who used HURST and hated it. But I give it two thumbs up!

I personally have never used kaplan, but i reccommend hurst! I would give them a 5 star because they make everything so simple to understand and give you lots of extra helpful information. I failed my first two nclex test with 205 questions both times, and two days ago i took my nclex and i just found out i passed with 205 questions and all i studied was hurst material. So in my opinion hurst is great!
