Hi and congratulations!!! I have an appt with West Coast University next month and live in La Crescenta. Hunitngton Memorial is the hospital I am going to volunteer at this fall and the hospital I hope to work for in the future. Is there any advice you can give me? I am a mom to two young boys in fear of going into so much debt. I already have a BSN and MS in another field and am a little nervous about going back and not being able to provide for my boys in the future. I have heard so many negatives about WCU it makes me a little nervous but I am 27 and not in the position to be waitlisted for three or four years. Any advice or info would be lovely.

Thank you so much and again congrats!!!!!

Thank you,

Aileen and the boys

Sorry for the really late reply. I haven't logged on in a while. I hope you're enjoying the new grad program. I'm sure since it's already started, you have a feel for what its like. :) Congratulations!! Post back if you have any questions! :)

Hello Dominicosmama (Aileen & precious boys :)),

WCU is a great school if you want to get things done. Time is money. Sooner you get it done, the sooner you start making the means to pay school back and continue to provide for your little ones.

I am in debt, thats for sure. It's really expensive but I see education as an investment. WCU has had some bad reviews because it is pretty new and still trying to stabilize themselves I guess (that goes for any new schools, in my opinion). But I think West Coast has really come a long way.

Also this is a fast-paced program so you get what you put in. Many people I think, expect to be spoon fed and given more time to learn but ultimately, control most of your learning, esp. at WC. I went to school with a couple women who worked full time (12 h shifts, 3 times a week), had a couple children and still graduated with honors. :yeah:

I have all the faith you can do it. Nursing is such a great field because you have many options. If you have any other questions or advice you can message me here, or PM me also. :) I'll try my best to respond as timely as possible.

Good luck with everything!

MiracleRN21, how much was the total cost for the program?

I go to the WCU campus in Orange County. I don't graduate until next August. MiracleRN21, how long did it take for you to find a job once you graduated?

I go to west coast in orange county, did you have a hard time getting a job?

Anyone know when the next new grad program at Huntington Hospital will be? I looked online but cannot find any dates.

Thank you in advance!
