  1. I am in the same boat as you pretty much. I have two years of critical care/ICU bedside experience, peds and adults, and was miserable after awhile. I knew bedside was not for me and found two job opportunities. I am torn on which one to choose because I am a newer nurse and not sure which one has better job opportunities/openings if I had to move states in a year or two (which I may have to) or moved companies. I was honest with my boss. I told her that I loved the hospital and my unit, however I felt that bedside was not suitable for me and I would want my patients to have 100%. For you I would maybe say that you want to explore this area (not sure what your new job is) of nursing but that you love your unit/hospital and would like to stay on as per diem. Your manager will want to keep you on instead of having to hire someone new most likely. This way it shows you are still dedicated to your current job. Managers should understand that we have a flexible schedule which gives us the opportunity to explore other areas of nursing as well.
  2. Hello! I am in a (grateful) dilemma and need some guidance. I was offered a position as a clinical research nurse and also an infection preventionist position at two different hospitals. I am extremely interested in both positions, however they are completely new areas to me. I am a newer nurse with two years critical care/ICU experience so I am still learning the nursing world. My main question is which job has more job openings/opportunities if I were to move states in a year or two or if I changed hospitals or companies. Thank you!!
  3. What job did you move to dawniepoo?
  4. Everything you have said is me at the moment! I am one year into being a floor nurse at a pediatric hospital (after one year of adult ICU) and I am always wondering if I made the right decision. I am at the hospital I have always wanted to be and I am working pediatrics which I have always wanted, my complete dream job.... and now I am wrecked with stress and anxiety everyday. This stress and anxiety has slipped into my days off and now I am on medications to help with constant nausea and headaches. I am looking to see what other areas I can move into, but want to give my floor at least two years. It makes me sad that my dream job did not turn out to be just that.
  5. Hello everyone! Anyone know when Huntington Hospital new grad program dates are? I looked everywhere online but no luck so far. Also, anyone having luck finding an ADN position that's not a new grad program? Thank you! Sarah
  6. Anyone know when the next new grad program at Huntington Hospital will be? I looked online but cannot find any dates. Thank you in advance!
  7. Hello everyone! I was wondering, is it more advantageous to do a new grad program first or is it all the same to just start a RN job? I am graduating this June with my ADN but I am also in a bridge program for my BSN which will be complete summer 2016. Once I get my license, my plan is to work while I finish my BSN. The new grad programs are difficult to come by because of the demand here in Los Angeles, so I was thinking of finding a RN job that accepts ADN. Should I hold out for a new grad program? What are your thoughts? Thank you! Sarah
  8. Hello! I was wondering if there are certifications we can get now as a nursing student so that we have them when we graduate and can help us with getting a job? I just know that it's difficult to get the first job as a freshly graduated student, so I am just trying to figure out what I can do now to help me when I graduate in a year. Thank you! Sarah
  9. Thank you all so much for your advice, especially exhaustedstudent! :)
  10. Hello everyone, I am about to start a 2 year RN program this Fall and then on to my BSN. I was wondering if anyone had any pointers on what I could do or study up on this Summer to help prep me for the program. I am pretty nervous and would like to be as prepared as possible! :) Thank you for your time! Sarah
