Hunter or Pace for Psych NP 2020

Updated:   Published

I have applied for Pace University and Hunter for Psych NP fall 2020. (waiting on their decision) Has anyone ever been to these for Psych. If Yes how was it? Is anyone here a perspective students of the schools listed above? Would love to link up.

@sejI currently work full-time, part-time at one place and part-time at another and am on the full-time track at hunter. It's possible but with that said, it is challenging and takes a lot of dedication, effort, and time management. I just keep telling myself that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Next semester (Fall 2021) is my last semester with any didactic courses and I only started in Fall of 2020. After that it's just two semesters of clinical. So the advantageous part is that you finish quickly.

@Apatel54 Pretty certain they place you at your clinical site. I believe you can also request to be placed some where of your choice but it must be approved by them according to their criteria.

@dilani35 are you saying you work a full AND a part time job and STILL manage the program? Also, you started the program last year and have only clinical left to complete?

@Apatel54 it would nice to creat a group for incoming class on whatapp or something. I started the FNP program at lehman a few semesters ago before they lost accreditation and one thing I’ve learned in graduate school is to have support from fellow classmates to make it though certain semesters!

@JulesOb that would be awesome! I'd definitely be down to create a group chat! Anyone can feel free to email me with their phone numbers and I can make the chat!

@dilani35 thank you for the info!

@Apatel54 I tried emailing you at your Binghamton email but I got a mail failure notice.

@JulesOb you can try my other email then! It’s [email protected]

@JulesObNo I have two clinicals to do, but there are only two in the pmhnp at Hunter.

To clarify I work two part time jobs and take classes FT.

@dilani35 oh great! So you’ll be done with the program fall 2022?

Are classes offered in Winter and Summer and did you take any during those seasons?

Specializes in Emergency.

@JulesOb yes December of 2022 officially done.

There was nothing substantial really offered in the Winter that I remember but I took NRS 704 (foundations of nursing theory)Summer of 2020 and I am planning on taking 751 (advanced health assessment) which has a lab component this Summer.

@dilani35

 According to the curriculum, there are some courses offered in-class and some online. Were all courses offered online due to Covid or did you have to go on campus for same?

Specializes in Emergency.

@JulesOb As far as I’ve been in classes ( I started Summer of 2020) all have been strictly online. This Summer will be my first in person class and that’s only because it’s advanced physical assessment and there is a lab component. The lecture is still online. Also as far as I know the remainder of my classes for the fall will be online as well...

@dilani35

 Thanks so much for answering my questions

How is that you were able to start in the Summer when you were admitted for fall 2020? Can we take classes the Summer before fall start date?
