I haven't taken patho yet, right now I'm due to take the final for bio201 tomorrow . I'm taking patho through CGCC this fall. Can I ask you what you thought of the final? I've been studying like crazy but there is SOOO much information. I've done pretty well on the home tests and labs and stuff, but I'm really nervous about this. I'm sure you probably won't read this before I take my final, but hopefully you will.
I would probably opt to take patho at Rio, just to save on travel time. Have you been accepted to a nursing school yet? If so, how long did you have to wait out? I'm applying in June, but I know that the fall is full everywhere. Any help would be appreciated, thanks,
Keli
Hello folks,
I am taking Micro (BIO 205) online through Rio Salado right now (had a midterm last week). I have a BS in Exercise Physiology, and - so far - Micro has been a review of some of my classes. I think that I could do OK in Pathophysiology online, but I'm nervous. I hear that it is one the most difficult nursing classes offered. What do you guys think that have taken it online, or in person. Is it doable? BTW, I'm extremely impressed by those of you taking A & P online. Those classes were some doosies!

Crazypremed,
I'm not sure where you live, but I am just finishing up patho at CGCC and it was pretty easy. There were a lot of people who dropped out, can't understand why though, because the teacher was very helpful in every aspect. She even dropped our last test because of a mixup on the schedule. If you're near enough to go there, I'd take her class. I feel I learned a lot and it was a pretty easy A.

It starts at RIO on May 16. I have already registered in it during Nursing School but wonder if I should switch to RIO. It would allow me to have half of the class over with by the time school started........more than half I think.I have taken A&P I and II at RIO, but I had a "nice" instructor. I have heard other horror stories about instructors there so I wonder. I like the option of online though....not having to go anywhere. For the class in nursing school it makes my day VERY long, going to school at 6:30 AM. What do you think I should do? I am thinking of registering for both and giving it a try..
Anyone had Patho at RIO??
Thanks!
Hi Thrashej,
I took Patho online thru Rio and it wasn't too bad. I had also taken A&P II online and it was really tough. I had the instructor everyone was warned about. I took Patho over the summer and it was my only class. I think as long as you don't fall behind in your reading and assignments you can do really well. I always try to work ahead so I have some extra study time for exams. If I were you I would do patho online and work ahead so you can be finished by the time nursing school starts. Most of the instructors will let you send in your assignments ahead of time and then you can try to finish early. I took all of my coreqs before nursing school starts so I wouldn't have to worry about them during the program. I start ns in January at Gateway. Good luck to you. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice. I know that it's being dropped from the curriculum for those of us that didn't apply for Spring 2006, but I need a class for next semester and want the advantage. I'll probably take it online. Thanks!

Geez Keli,
You must be a brain or something. I worked my butt off in AA of Patho this semester and pulled a B. Now I wish I'd have taken it at CGCC with you this past semester and had AA and AB done with an A! Are you smart or what! :chuckle :chuckle
I just finished patho at Rio. Got an A barely. It is really not that bad. They give you a test plan for each of the 3 tests. You have to provide answers to all the questions on the testplan for assignments. They also have a test review for each test that is a video you watch online that goes thru all the answers to the testplan. I just watched that video over and over and memorized the testplan. The test questions come directly from that material. There are no suprises.
Boomerfriend,
:chuckle No, not a brain, but if I find something interesting it usually sticks with me and I don't have a problem on the test. The thing with my patho class was if you knew how the body works you can eliminate at least two of the questions on the test, and then figure out the answer between the two left. Plus I thought the material was pretty fascinating, and I've been around a long time (BIG birthday coming next week), so I just applied what I already know. I really think Rio A&P helped because I had to KNOW the info for the final, so I really learned A&P.
That and I think my teacher was pretty accomodating. I wish you would've taken it with us too.
