I haven't seen anyone start a thread about applying for this year's HRSA scholarships. I am waiting to see if I am accepted into a school in IL (fingers crossed!) and then I am going to start my application process for HRSA. The program I am applying to is a 16 months ABSN that starts in august! what about you all?
Have you been accepted some where yet? Still in the application process? Already started the Scholarship application?

I just think it’s only two years out of your whole nursing career, and the fact that you got the scholarship also says enough! Also honestly, the fact that you will be debt free is really the winning feature as well!

For sure, it’s great and that’s my dilemma to have less debt or to most likely never be able to work at a hospital. Even though it’s only 2 years, those 2 years you miss out on new grad residency programs at hospitals that provide the necessary training to work in a hospital in whatever specialty you choose. If you start off at a clinic without that training then after 2 years it’s next to impossible to ever switch and work at a hospital.

I’m sure you’d be able to move anywhere as long as it’s a HRSA approved site. Many people end up having to relocate.
I'm in Montana and currently work at a hospital but the only HRSA approved sites are clinics which I'm totally OK with! Luckily I have connections within the hospital I work at where I could easily get a job there. The amazing thing about nursing is that it is flexible and you can literally change your career ANY DAY. For those saying it's impossible to get trained in a hospital once you start in a clinic is absolutely NOT true.
Hey all,
I was reading some of the comments about approved hospitals. I would check with the hospital directly. I was trying to look up approved sites also and hospital sites weren’t really showing up in my areas. I spoke to the CMO at my hospital and he said our hospital was an approved site. I’m not 100% sure this is true as it is not on the list, but just wanted to say to everyone sites might not show up when you’re searching so make sure to ask. ?
