I'm starting this thread for the new applicants for the hrsa nursing scholarship 09-10. Tor prettylady, I think its a random selection. Its the luck of the draw.

thanks simplelife 4me for all of your input on the hrsa scholarship..I'm glad to hear feedback from a person who recieved the award. Do you think that we will get decision earlier this year since the application deadline was early?

The worst thing about the scholarship program is the wait! I don't know if you will be notified earlier but I would not hold my breath. Watch your mail and your email. I received my notification 1st through the mail, others received an email. Good luck!!!!

Hey there all! I started a HRSA post in the students forum and noticed this post over here, so thought I'd pop on and see how our wait is going. In the student's post, we have been discussing how HRSA has checked some of our credit reports. Mine got checked on July 2nd, and a couple other people said that their credit was checked later on in the month. A few have not had their credit checked as of yet.

I have no clue if this means anything good or not (do they check all of the applicants credit, or just start with those who made the first pick and weed through the bad apples?) But I can't help but think that it would be a good sign. It seems that checking everyone's credit would be very expensive!

I dunno...what are everyone else's thougths? Has anyone in this post had their credit checked by HRSA? Again, I have no clue as to what it all means and I could just be driving myself crazy for no reason...the wait is just killing me and I guess I'm bored:lol_hitti. Well regardless...Good luck to us all!!!!!

I did not know that they checked your credit. Maybe it is to see if you owe any taxes or student loans. I haven't gotten any alerts about any new inquiries..

No, I don't believe they even check my credit. That's very interesting that they started doing that this year. I get daily alerts if there's a change in my credit file, including new inquires. Nothing from HRSA. Then again I was awarded last year.

yeah, they checked my credit on july 7th...It's under a strange name you would not notice unless you carefully searched for it. Does anybody know how much hrsa give per semester for other reasonable costs?

My credit check is listed as a bunch of upper case letters with HRSA in there. This is totally NOT what it really is, but it was something like DHS HRSA CGTA. Aain, that is NOT the actual name listed, it was just like that. I can't remember the exact letters, i just know that HRSA stood out alone and I got very excited when I saw it!

Hey, has anyone checked out the hrsa.gov lately? I think I have a bit of wonderful news, but Im not positive about it yet. It seems as though kathleen Sebullius has opened up 200 million of stimulus dollars for training in the medical field. A big portion of that money is going for hrsa scholarships and loans and I think they are giving additional money to the scholarship meaning a lot more scholarships will be given this year. I need everyone to go to the website hrsa.gov and click on the kathleen Sebuillus link dated for 7/28.Tell me what you guys think! i'm hoping this is true!

That seems like good news. I hope this provides more scholarships to give away because we alll could certainly use it...

My credit is monitored with Equifax and there has not been a new inquiry with them. Which company are they checking with?

Great news!!!!!! I called hrsa! Spoke with a rep who said that more scholarships will be granted this year because of those funds! I am happy ince this means that we all have a better shot in getting the scholarship!!!!!!!!!!
