2012-2013 HRSA Nursing Scholarship Application

Published

The application process hasn't even started yet but I didn't even find out about last year's scholarship until a couple days before the deadline. I did get my application in on time but was not fortunate enough to be a recipient. I intend to apply again for the upcoming scholarship. Any tips from those that were accepted? My EFC is 0, I'm in an undergraduate program, and my GPA is 3.4.

My transcript is 6 pages and could not upload all pages either, so I had a friend combine and compress the files. When I called the help desk the woman recommend that I do just that, combine and compress in pdf and upload under transcript. From reading previous posts it seems to be that supporting docs get viewed, just not by us. I'm sure it will be ok as long as you submitted it . The requirement is to submit all documents, I never read that they had to be uploaded directly into the allocated spots, so I highly doubt that would be a reason to disqualify anyone. Good luck to all :)

I just applied for a credit check and see nothing as well. Are these sites accurate or do they just show alerts from when you signed up? I signed a contract for my apartment in January and I don't even see that as an alert.

Morning Everyone,

The previous blogger is right, they preferred all documents to be uploaded in pdf. I am assuming so that no one can say anything was tampered with since pdf's cant be altered. It did say that there were other acceptable formats one could use. A few posts back a question was asked about the "supporting documents" tab, and another blogger mentioned what I had said. I was concerned as well, but was told by HRSA the day I uploaded that they are aware of the technical issue and HRSA can see those documents. Of course anyone is welcome to call themselves and get it from the horses mouth.

I also would like to say one more thing. I personally don't feel that anyone has been negative or has been shooting anyone else down. Listen, we are all in the same boat, waiting and wondering. We all have different information, some true some not, but that is what this type of thread is all about. Sharing, asking questions and hoping to get answers. I know that I just cant sit back and let someone go on thinking something is one way when it is another. That is not shooting someone down that is being a responsible adult and trying to pass along correct information. It would be very childish to just sit back and let people fester or worry when you can inject a little common sense and truth into the situation. I do truly wish all of you the best (including myself). This is a huge scholarship that will change the life of those who will receive it. I am certainly not an expert on how this process goes, but I am extremely anal and have read all the information HRSA makes available and watched the webinar, so I am more than happy to share any info I have with all of you. In return I hope to get some support and a few questions I have answered as well. I look forward to updates from everyone!!!

I typically don't even respond to posts like this, but because I feel that my comment was the source of all of this...I will. I understand that you personally don't feel that anyone was being negative or shooting anyone else down, but that way you word things tend to come off that way...at least it did to me. At times, words on paper sound different than actually speaking. I also understand that you are "anal" can't sit back and let someone think something that isn't true. I'm assuming you're referring to my comment...the senior/junior comment that obviously set this things off. Like I mentioned before...my intentions were not to discourage anyone, I was asked a question and I answered it. All people who apply for the scholarship have difference experiences...as I've said this is my second go round and I have spent numerous hours on the phone with people at BCRS. I'm sure that I have been told stuff, true and not true...but as you stated yourself, this is a blog and used for that purpose. I am not an expert either regarding this scholarship process, but I simply voiced my experience from last year. I'm sure juniors have/will be awarded the scholarship, it's silly to think otherwise. From what I understood, it's not that juniors don't get it, it's simply that if two applicants are completely on equal ground, great letters/GPA/essay etc., that might be the deciding factor. As I stated yesterday...I'm sorry if my comment upset you.

I'm sure that a lot of the people on this blog have benefited from the support that you have offered, so thank you. If possible, I would like to squash this because this is so incredibly silly.

There was never anything to be squashed I honestly wasn't referring to any specific comments or post I was saying in general that I've been watching these threads for quite a while even from previous years and it seems as if some were catty! I'm sorry if you felt I was speaking of you...I was talking in general terms. as I said before I wish everyone the best and my prayers are for all applicants.

I agree. I think we should all be open to whatever information is provided by other posters--make of it what you will. With that said, good luck to everyone!

Yes...good luck!! :) Anyone in the silver team, please post if your credit gets pulled. It looks like MO (where my school is) is the Silver team and I haven't been pulled yet. Hopefully it happens though. Best wishes!

What is the purpose of the teams? I am so lost lol. I know I seen it on the threads but could someone please explain:)

I don't know exactly! LOL, but the lady I've been dealing with (b/c of the uploading problem) is part of the silver team - which is where I am located. I think it is how they divide up all the applicants and review their applications.
