Right I just saw that. During the Q&A, it was mentioned that we should write the application ID on top.  I have to reupload mine to include the name. As far as the essay, im confused on that too.

And if we don't do that are we disqualified from it? I didn't do that LOL

lolll fr tho, I was wondering the same thing 😭 I don't think we're automatically disqualified. It's probs more about keeping them organized, but I'd def reupload it just in case.  Better to be safe.

I did not receive that email but I put my ID number at the top off all documents because that's what it said to do in that long instruction packet. The only one I couldn't was my transcript because it was an official transcript locked to editing, so I put a comment explaining instead. I just put my ID number on the essay, not my name. If you haven't, I'd highly recommend just going into Adobe PDF and adding a text box with your ID number on everything.

you're right! one of the the representatives told me via phone that's it's more about being able to associate the different documents with each applicant in the instance something is lost/misplaced (not sure how it would get lost as everything is digital but who knows). I would recommend doing it just in case, better to do it and be okay than stress over a potential issue.

Hello my fellow nursing students. This is my second time applying for this scholarship. And your not necessarily disqualified, If you are deemed a finalist they will ask for other documentation if necessary. However, according to HRSA any Missing or ineligible will not processed. Also, their system can Only open PDF Documents so I would suggest everyone check all their docs to make sure they are PDF formatted. Point in case, I had to convert my essay from a word doc to a PDF and re-uploaded it because I submitted it as a word doc. Hope this helps. And good luck.

Clarification my fellow nursing students and Fyi:  The only documents that require only your Applicant I.D. Only are your 2 recommendation letters and your essay. Why does HRSA have it set that way. Fyi:  External Analyst that are contracted and supposedly vetted, review all Recommendations and Essays. Note: These Analyst are not HRSA employees. HRSA has it set so that employees don't recruit family or friends to scholarship funds. And also just in case the external analyst may know some of the applicants it won't matter because all they have to identify the applicant by is a number. So, this helps keep the Scholarship process Unbiased so to speak. How do I know all of this, a previous supervisor of mine worked as a contracted employee as an external analyst and reviewed recommendations and essays. She said the HRSA Employees do not have access to recommendation letters or Essays; until the External Analyst states that the Applicant Pre-qualifies as a prospective candidate. The External Analyst has to answer some questions after reviewing the documents. And that information is sent to HRSA via secure links and HRSA Employees process the supporting documents for accuracy and verification. If all documentation checks out then the applicant is sent a finalist application. Once your credit report, school verification, and SAI are determined the funds are allocated on an as need basis so anyone with a negative SAI is top priority. Those students will be first preference and given the award. Note: Per my former supervisor what she says she has seen there are more applicants that are pursuing undergraduate degrees vs advanced practice degrees so those pool of applicants are larger so it makes it more competitive. HRSA has a mandated budget for each tier and that allotted sum must be honored. For example if 5 million is the budget for all nursing candidates with an SAI of zero/negative. Then those funds must go to students in that category. My former supervisor encouraged me to apply because even though less funds are allotted to Advance Practice Nurses, the applicant pool is way smaller because there are not as many students pursuing advanced nursing degrees vs undergraduate nursing degrees. And Secondly, Not all students pursuing advance practice degrees will qualify for this need base scholarship because of their high SAI and those limits vary per award cycle and that information is not given out to external analyst. So, Advance Practice nurses have better odds do to the number of applicants. My former supervisor also stated that she is not contracting with HRSA now due to the budget cuts from the white house. She stated that is why HRSA is now only requiring applicants to do one essay vs the 2 or 3 essays that were previously required in past scholarship years. For instance, in 2024 applicants had to submit 2 essays along with 2 recommendation letters. But now since there are less external applicants HRSA cut down the amount of documents to review. Also, funding for this Scholarship is still up in the air do to what is going on in the White House, so this award cycle my be working with less funds. And she is not sure if HRSA has had a reduction in force due to the new regulations/changes in the White House. So, she told me to have backup funding for school because even if you get the scholarship Funds may be slower to disperse compared to past years.

So I wish all applicants good luck.

I hope this was insightful

Thanks for telling me to reupload them!  I almost didn't, I got them all in now, correctly LOL

The Answer is Yes you are automatically disqualified if you do not submit all supporting documents in PDF Form because #1 According to HRSA their system only allows the downloading or uploading of PDF Files. It's written in bold black letters so that you do not forget in the Nurse Corps Scholarship Guide that you can download in PDF Format. NOTE: You are disqualified because they cannot open your documents and because they Do Not send emails notifying you that they could not open documents or if you have anything missing. They work with limited staffing and have a set deadline to review and disperse awards. I checked over my documents and app every time I uploaded something new. That is how I found out I uploaded my essay in a word document by mistake.

Exactly, we don't want unnecessary stress later. Thank you confirming, wishing you the best,💕

Glad you got it all in! Wishing you the best of luck! 😊

This is my first year submitting my application to the Nurse Corp. I have a positive SAI number of 5000. Does anyone know if that automatically disqualifies me or if they know someone with positive number that has gotten the scholarship?

It doesn't automatically disqualify you. But negative and low SAI takes priority. I have seen positive and high SAI get awarded though too!

People have gotten it with Positive SAI numbers but many factors play into it. #1 How many people that meet all of the criteria that have an SAI of less than 5,000. #2 What is the SAI cutoff limit that automatically disqualify a person for this need base scholarship. I heard that last year's cut off limit was around $5,500 but a nurse received the reward with an SAI of 12,000 but she was in school for her masters.

So, I'm not sure if the SAI limits differ for each Tier.
