Has anyone else been accepted into the 2015 accelerated nursing program at Howard Community College?

If anyone from a prior program reads this, what was your experience like and how easy or hard was it for you to get job following graduation and passing the NCLEX?

So I got accepted to the FSU RN-BSN program and I am looking at the classes I still need to take. Are there any classes that you would recommend taking/not taking during foundations? I dont have any pre-req left for HCC so its just 122 in the fall so far. Are you taking any summer classes? Would you recommend 1 or 2 during that time? I am used to taking 2-3 classes at a time but I dont want to take too much and get overwhelmed so soon. thanks for your help in this btw! This is an amazing opportunity and I want to take full advantage of it.

Glad you got accepted! I would recommend taking the management, English 308 and any other missing electives before you start foundations... Then I would start with 401 and after foundations the order up until 406 doesn't really matter. That's just my perspective! Good for you for taking advantage of the opportunity ;)

Hello I know I am late on the post , I am applying for this fall 2016 can you give me some insight on what may be required for overall gpa and math/science gpa to get into the program ? I was hoping for a heads up on what I need to have a good chance of getting in thanks

What isn't required? Can you elaborate.

Hi there, just wanted to reply to this for future accelerated students. I graduated in Summer 2016 and the program is pretty intense. The program is 14 months long and it starts in the Summer (10 weeks) with Fundamentals of Nursing followed by a quick 2 week break then you start the Fall semester with 2 courses: Med Surg I and what they call Mother Baby - basically labor, deliver and postpartum. You get the option to take the winter off or you can go ahead and take the Ethics in Nursing class - it's a 1-credit class for I believe 1 month. Then the new year starts, 3rd semester and you start with either Pediatrics or Psych. Pediatrics is significantly more challenging than Psych and if you fail Peds you can't take Psych so I would suggest take Psych first, pass that then take Peds. I did it that way and it really helped me transition to the final course which is Med Surg 2 in the summer. For each course you take one HESI exam and then once you pass Med Surg 2 and prior to graduating, you take one comprehensive Exit HESI. Feel free to ask me any questions. The program is intense but if you are motivated and manage your time well, you can do it! Good luck!

????? Did you have any C's in any classes?I am taking the accelerated program as well once I am done mmy last little bit of pre requisites.I have anatomy and physiology 1,2;Chemistry 103 and math left to retake over.I am sooo nervous and scared because of all the different stories I hear from people, but I know anything is possible as long as you believe. Not to mention I have an 8 year old daughter, work full time and has no support whatsoever..so what would your suggestions be?Also what is HESI?
