Okay. I'm taking anatomy this summer. My co-worker suggested we start a study group. I tried it and it was terrible. All we did was ate pizza and talked. I never liked study gorups; I prefer to get into my nice quiet corner and do my own thing. Now after this I know I can't study with a group. What do I say??
I never worked well with study groups either. I found I needed to get a good grasp of the material on my own before I could go into a group. You could tell them you want to get a good handle on the material first and then maybe the day before an exam sit in on a study group and see how it goes. Sometimes it is beneficial to sit in on a group study session. Someone might say something that sticks in your head easier than on your own. Another thing I found was that sometimes explaining or "teaching" a subject to others in the group really helped me understand it even more. Good luck to you!!

Study groups don't generally help me much, usually people end up talking and joking around and no studying gets done.
I have never had any problems when I just tell them I study better on my own....I think people understand that. Some do well in groups, some don't. It shouldn't be anything personal between mature adults right?
I do find that a one hour group session when I and everyone else am DONE studying helps if I have questions or need anothers point of view---that is the only time a study group helps me.
Good luck!
