How to suceed in Microbiology?

What are some tips and things you learned about this course from experience? Or what are some things you noticed about the course and the people who took it? I'm not that much of a visual learner. I sucked in A&P lab because I could not connect what I saw and then fill in a blank line of what the name of it was. I'm definitely a book learner...so I kicked butt in the lecture exams. I'm not sure if I am a good hands on learner though. I don't make many mistakes and I just learn as I go but I'm not sure how I'll succeed in hands on learning.
