How to study meds for nclex?

i made index cards but i'm not sure if i'm studying them the right way.

so, i wrote down ace inhibitors : end in pril

* side effects: hypotention, hacking cough, nausea and vomiting and respiratory symptoms.

* nursing interventons: monitor vs, monitor wbc count, monitor the electrolyte levels.

beta adrenergic blockers: end in olol

* side effects: orthostatic hypotention, bradycardia, nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, congestive heart failure, blood dyscrasis.

* olol help lower bp, lower pulse, lower cardiac output, migraine headache, glaucoma and mi

* nursing interventions: monitor the pt for lab values: protein, bun, creatine

check bp, heart rate, rhythm, check for signs of edema

* teach: teach pt to rise slowly, report bradycardia, dizziness, confusion, depression, or fever.

taper off medication.

is that right? is that how i should be studying? man, so much to memorize. help!!

I think you have a good method down. Not necessary to make it any more complicated than this. Good luck.

Ya, I feel the same way but I don't know how to narrow it down. It is a lot of info but what can we do?
