How Soon to Look for Staff Job?

I moved out of state for a staff job and have been gone almost 2 years. Recently I wanted to move back home, so I took a travel job a few hours away from home. I’m fresh into my contract but want to take a staff job at the local level 1 back home afterwards. I have 11 more weeks on this travel contract. How soon is too soon to apply for open staff positions at the medical center? I don’t want to have them tell me to reapply, but I’m not sure if they’d hold a job for 2.5 months either. Thanks!

The answer here is that you need to know this information directly from the medical center by trying to send an application, the only thing here is that you don't want them to tell you to reapply.  But for me, it would be better to know than wonder if I missed an opportunity.
