Bottle Size Amount of Water Required for Reconstitution
100 mL 74 mL
150 mL 111 mL
Each teaspoonful (5 mL) will contain 250 mg amoxicillin.
I checked that link-I see it only mentions 200 and 400mg doses. The above is the correct reconstitution, but the OP mentions a 120ml bottle. Op, I would recommend that you first check what the quantity is supposed to be after reconstitution; if you are correct and it is supposed to be 120ml, the amount of water, judging by the above table, would be in the region of 89ml.
Hi, hope you dont mind, working on this for practice and got 90 mL !!I did the ratio proportion, however I used the 200mg table. My question is, is there a formula for the 250mg?
Thanks :)
You need a pharmacist to answer that one for you. As far as I remember, amoxil always came in a standard strength, ie multiples of 125mg. I confess, I never came across the other doses mentioned. I could be wrong, but I think the final strength was not dependent on differing strengths of the active substance itself, but in the quantity of powder for reconstitution in the bottle, and the amount of water that was consequently added to it. This was according to instructions on the bottle or the package insert.
It's been about 25 years since I had to fiddle with reconstituting suspensions, so my memory is not to be relied on
The Bottle of the generic drug Novamoxicillin contains 5000 mg amoxicillin as trihydrate. You are asked to add 60 ml water in two portions and shake well to make 100 ml of suspension. Each 1 ml conatains 50 mg of amoxicillin.
1ml = x x= 100 ml of suspension
50 5000 mg
I'm trying to figure out how much water to add to amoxicillin suspension. Unfortunately there is no information on the bottle or on the insert that tells you how to reconstitute it. It's supposed to make 120ml, 250mg per 5ml. I can't find any info anywhere about how much to add to make 120ml. If anyone knows or know where I can find out I'd really appreciate if you could tell me.Thank you
