Hello all,
I appeared for RPN exam in Jan 2014 in Ontario, but unfortunately I failed the exam. I scored 79 and the passing marks is 109. I only studied for 2 months and that too not regularly due to my work.
I even attended Toronto school of Health, which I think is a total waste of money. Whatever they taught over there didn't helped at all. Anyways, I am thinking of writing again in May or Sept this year.
I studied Mosby's (Blue and Orange book) and Saunders too along with notes from Toronto School of Health. I know which wasn't enough.
I am looking for suggestion and recommendations from those who passed or in process of writing their exam soon. Please share what you guys study and how do you guys study?
Please share ANY RECOMMEDATIONS FOR BOOKS, TEST EXAM or ANY GUIDANCE would be much appreciated.
I am so heart broken. This is the first exam in my life in which I have failed. Please help

Im not really sure...I did well throughout the program...didn't really study (briefly reviewed a week before the exam) and passed. I didn't find the exam really difficult.
I would say review your basic competencies, read through the Med-surg book (Lewis). Do the predictor tests, I found those helped a lot (Assessment Strategies Inc. - Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination) and go through the exam prep guide.
I'm not sure what other advise to give. Maybe someone who failed once and then passed would be of better help to you.

Is English your second language? It's just some of your sentence structure so 'off'.
It's a very simple exam, aimed at the entry/beginner level of nursing that your basic education provides ample background knowledge for.
It's one of those 'don't over think the question' exams.

You need to have the knowledge and build on that throughout your program in order to be successful. Studying test questions isn't enough if the knowledge isn't there.
Review key nursing concepts first and understand the competencies. Safety, ethics, the nursing process, and client centred care principles are essential to understanding the exam.
Note key words: initially, next, first, priority.
If patho is not your strongest, then review your weaker areas and understand the systems that are involved.
I hope that helps.
