I have 6 more months before I'm done nursing school. Since i started nursing school, my girlfriend would always tell me to do nclex questions, however, they never seem to help me on the exams. I heard kaplan is a good way to prepare. Besides prayer, can anyone give me any advice on how to start preparing now for the boards? can you recommend any good nclex books with test taking stategies and tips? Also, some of my friends told me they had alot of meds on the boards. How do you learn the meds and what strategies would help? please help me

For content review, I would definately recommend Saunders NCLEX review book (4th edition is the most latest).....it is so detailed and organized in helping you retain information. They also have a cd that has like 4000 questions....enough to help you master answer questions...or at lease get the hang of it. You have to learn the content not just memorization....it won't stick unless you use thought processes and critical thinking....
For medications, I would learn the classifications, and endings. For example, -olol would be antihypertensive beta blockers, -prils would be ace inhibitors, mycins are antibiotics, etc....
Hope this helps. Good luck as you finish up nursing school! :)
