I need advice as to how the heck I'm going to pay for Lpn school. I am not even in the program yet. I am still trying to choose between Mcfatter technical and sheridan tech in hollywood florida, however I went to speak to the counselor for mcfatter and she mentioned that they do not accept loans, but do scholarships and grants, plus deferments of payments only. the program is about 4,200 dollars excluding books and supplies. I was really thinking about carrying out a loan since I cannot pay up front. I want to be able to take my teas by may and have all my paperwork in by june so i will be set in the application process but i just dont know how i will be able to afford it.

I used a Sallie Mae private career training loan to cover the entire balance of my $19,995 tuition back in 2004. You are getting an excellent deal if your program will only cost $4,200 excluding books and supplies. I would find a way to make it work.
See if providers such as Wells Fargo, Chase, Bank of America, Sallie Mae, or a local credit union will lend you the money to cover tuition.

Each block is 4 months. So if your working that's like $1400 or so every block. and my friends worked part time. If you can't do that, then do what ladyfree said and see about taking out a loan. Good luck!

I've gotten through school by basically cutting back. I know this doesn't work for everyone but so far, I haven't had to get a loan. I worked out a payment plan with my school and thats been very helpful. I shop around for the best deals for everything. I got a Littmann on sale and my books for a fourth of what the bookstore was selling them for online. I get some financial aid, but not a lot. I also apply for every scholarship under the sun, I've gotten a few small ones that I got by default because no one else applied. I'm sure this isnt very helpful, but just by cutting back a little each month we are still staying afloat and I'm getting school paid for!
