Hello everyone,
I am currently trying to decide how I am going to organize my school items. I would love to hear what you all do for your school stuff. Do you keep a binder at home and take a folder or what? Also, what size binders did/ do you have for your classes? I don't want to get one too small but I don't want to get one too big either. Thank you for any suggestions or advice!
thanks for writing this post and to all those who have shared their thoughts!! i have one question to add, what type of book bag did you use? my husband used a swiss-army book-bag. but, i didn't know if there was a more feminine one, which is just as effective?? thanks for your input!!
any kind of bag with wheels; save your back. i have many sizes depending on the amount, weight, size books or other junk i need to carry. at home, have separate bags devoted to each class containing the books and other info needed for the class. that way i do not have to run around trying to find class items.
one time i went to the hospital clinical but had forgotten something at home. from that time, i always kept an extra set of things in a bag in the car...socks, scrubs, long sleeved nursing jacket, stethoscope, sissors, pens, penlight, note paper, copy paper, snacks, water/drinks--expect the best but be prepared for the worst.
oh, the night before class/clinical, when i am still rested, i put everything i need for the next day at the front door--this also includes my keys. i also have my keys attached to a lanyard that is looped onto my purse. the lanyard is long enough to allow me to keep the keys in the ignition while still being attached to my purse. once i did this, i never locked myself out of my car.
i have a 1'' binder, and i have dividers for each class. i usually just keep the notes for the material we'll need for that exam in my binder. When we move on to the next unit,i have another larger folder that i put the old notes into...all in a place i can easily reference for one of those dreaded cumulative tests lol.
In the front of the binder I have file folder for "TO DO", on the front of it, i paperclip a weekly schedule (from google calenders that i make) with all my readings / assignments/handouts/ pre-clinical paperwork crap like in it.
For clinical i usually, i try to travel light since i dont have a locker or anywhere to put my things- penlight/shears/stethoscope/pen are somewhere on my person, but for paper work, i have a short form to write pertinent info on (labs/vitals/meds due etc) oh yeah and some cash..so i can eat if i dont pack a lunch..
I have a 3in binder for each class. I print out every pp and label them with tiny post-its so I know where everything is at a glance. I have a ton of 1in binders at home where I keep things divided and labeled by class/test. So far I haven't had any problems w/disorganization. However, I'm about to have to get another bookshelf because my books and notebooks are overflowing!
I carry a normal backpack but don't take a lot of books to class (we have e-books if needed) A couple classmates got a rolling scrapbooking tote from Hobby Lobby that carries a lot of books, and they're cute.

Lets just say I never saw my office floor or desk when school was going on. I wish I could have actually organized but that just isnt my style at all.
