How often do residents accuse people of abuse?

How often do residents report cnas for abuse? How often is the abuse false? What is the process they go through once a cna is suspended for abuse?

I work in LTC. I've heard residents accuse CNA's of abuse. Most times the RNs will take into account what they know about the CNA and what they know about the person making the accusation and what they are being accused of.

It's usually the CNA "stole" something or that the CNA is "too rough". In which case there is always an investigation (which typically only lasts a few hours at most) with interviews of the resident, and fellow CNA's who work with the CNA and resident in question.

I have never heard of anyone being fired for an accusation. The usual result is the CNA can no longer care for that specific resident or enter their room for any reason. Also, any other CNA's are required to have another person (CNA/nurse), a "witness", be present when any staff enter that person's room.
