How often are your line changes?

Published

Many years ago we switched from every 48 hours to every 72 on all tubing changes (you name it, TPN, lipids, PIV or central - they all get changed every 72). I'm reading some information about possibly every 96 hours - does anyone do this or something similar?

In my unit (in Western Washington) we change TPN, med, and fluid lines every 72 hours, and lipid tubing is changed every 24 hours. I wasn't aware that some units were switching to a 96 hour policy. I'll have to keep my eyes open...

We asked about the lipids also. As long as you flush the connector, it is fine, they won't be sitting stagnant for long. We use a trifurcated filter so we just flush that Y when it is done.
