How much are ACLS instructors paid?

Published

I am an RN and my partner has a business where he offers ACLS/BLS/PALS courses to large groups including the large group of physicians and CRNAs he works with. As he teaches large groups, he has assistants which consist of RNs assist him in teaching.

I am curious what the going rate is for instructors specifically for ACLS/BLS/PALS is. Are they paid hourly or per course? I am not really looking for what the yearly salary is for an instructor, but rather what the rate of pay is for a course or the hourly pay - whichever applies to each individual.

Please also state what part of the country you live in, as I want to get an idea of what the pay scales are in different areas. I am doing this research to help him to realize what he should be paying these instructors.

Thank you!

My guess is they are scheduled for 8 hours and get done quick. Every acls or pals class I have been to was scheduled for 8 hours a day. Sometimes you have some slow people that take the full time. Recert is usually one day, first cert usually 2 days. If I were the instructor I would want $400 to make it worth the effort. Especially since its probably not a full time gig. If he does drop the pay what happens when they say they wont do it? You would be surprised how few certified instructors there are out there for these advanced certificates.

Its actually probably easier to raise the rates for.the students if he wants more money.....

I've taught ACLS, PALS, and TNCC and I never got paid anything other than my usual hourly rate. I have taught sections of CCRN review courses for PESI and Med-ED and been very well compensated for that.
