How many weeks before taking NCLEX

Published

I know lots of people have asked this question before, but my test anxiety is kicking in. I need to do content review but over all how many weeks/hr a day should i spend in content review? And how should i set a study plan? For people who passed NCLEX what has helped you? I am planning to do Kaplan in class review and I also have Hurst review book. Thank you!!!

Hi There! I did the Kaplan Review class (VERY GOOD!) and in that class, one of the instructors said that the recommended amount of review questions you do is between 3000 and 5000, however, while doing them, you should keep track of your percentage correct and that as long as it is above around 77%, you should pass... with that said, you need to make sure you aren't focusing on one topic and/or one type of question. Do all formats, all topics!! don't skimp on things you think you know. do those questions anyway.

So, for me, i started out trying to do 30-50 questions a day, and because i am a poor procrastinator, i ended up skipping a ton of days and did around 150 questions per day for 3 or 4 days before my exam... i only did around 600 questions total, but my percentage correct was always between 82 and 88% correct.

hope this helps!

Hello,

To be honest, it really depends on what your strengths and weaknesses in each category are and your commitment to the test. First off, the NCLEX, is not a joke. Cramming may work for some, but if you're someone who really needs to warp their head around the information before taking a test, make sure you leave a good 3 to 4 weeks to study.

The review course is also a great idea and they should give an answer about how long it will take you to review before you are ready for the exam. According to the ATI plan I did, it took me 4 weeks before I was ready for my second chance. I ultimately delayed it till a later date because my test anxiety was in overdrive.

Also, look into a few other books to help you with your studying. These were very helpful for me and trust me, in the long run, you'll be glad you spent the money and time for a career that is high in demand and growing every year.

Here are the books.

Good luck and hope that was a little bit helpful.
